🚨 MISINFORMATION ALERT 🚨
There’s a letter from SRECTrade making the rounds, and some are wrongly claiming that all SRECs will soon be “worthless.” Let’s clear that up:
Yes, the letter is legit—but the interpretation floating around? Not so much.
Here’s what’s really going on:
✅ The proposed NJ Assembly bill A5460 only impacts legacy SREC-I systems (approved before April 30, 2020).
✅ It proposes lowering the SACP (price cap), which may affect market pricing for these older, tradable SRECs.
❌ This has zero impact on SuSi, TREC, SREC-II, or any current NJ incentive programs. Those have guaranteed, fixed payments by law and remain totally unaffected by this bill.
If your system was installed after April 2020 and you’re in one of the newer programs, you’re good.
This could be a big change for older systems, but it’s not the end of SRECs and definitely not a reason to panic if you’re part of the current programs.
