They have grout joints and it can lead to mold‼️
Grout by its nature has cement. Cement is porous. Water which gets trapped behind tile walls is a bad. Water happens ALL THE TIME in showers.

It’s expensive‼️
Unless you buy the cheapest tile at the big box store and go through the looooong process of DIYing it, a tile project is gonna cost you.

The shower floor pan ends up looking dirty‼️
Since all the dirt and grime go down on your shower pan the plethora of grout joints in your mosaic shower floor pan gets ugly over time.

It’s hard to find a competent human being, alien or robot to do the job‼️
In this age of robotics and fast-moving-technologies, there still isn’t a cost-effective people-less way to install a tile shower inside your home. And there in lies the problem.

If you DIY the job, you’ll buy a lot of tools you’ll never use again‼️
DIYing sounds great until you realize the number of (and cost of) specialty tools, equipment and supplies you need for a tile shower.

Let’s start with the obvious reasons to start a kitchen remodel.

1.Your kitchen is damaged and needs repair. There’s water damage near your sink and your cabinets are starting to get mushy. Or, maybe you have mildew growing underneath and every time you open the cabinet under the kitchen sink, you pretend you don’t see it. Enough said.

2. Your appliances are either broken or on their last leg. Do you pray that your dishwasher will turn on when you hit that start button? Maybe there’s a few burners that you don’t use on the stove because they stopped working years ago. Appliances don’t last forever; the average dishwasher life expectancy is only around 9 years.

Or your kitchen works, but it doesn’t work well.

3. You need better use of space. Kitchens are filled with pots and pans, gadgets and gizmos, food and drinks. Everything needs a storage space to call home. And not all older homes utilize the perfect design for all those things. Maybe your cabinets could go all the way to the ceiling or wrap all the way around that wall? Maybe you could have space for all your food in one spot, oh the ingeniousness of a pantry.

4. You want updated appliances. Not only are your appliances old, but they are inefficient. They take hours to clean the dishes, or boiling a pot of water takes forever! Maybe you bake a lot and you want a double oven? Or maybe you just want updated cabinets, soft-close drawers and adjustable hardware for cabinet doors. Maybe you want more drawers that pull everything forward so there is less crouching and digging.

5. You need a better layout for your growing family. One person fits in your work triangle. One person can make dinner. Maybe you are cramped on counter space and you like to make cookies with the kids? Maybe your kitchen could really benefit from a breakfast island?

6. You want an entertaining space. Your kitchen is blocked off, there’s an invisible sign over the doorway that tells guests, enter at your own risk. It’s cramped and uncomfortable. Don’t even think about asking for help in there; they will just get in the way. Wouldn’t an island be nice where people can congregate around on the outside of your work space? And let’s not forget, great lighting can increase functionality and comfort within your kitchen.

Or your kitchen works well, but you hate the way it looks!

7. Let’s talk aesthetics, do you walk into your kitchen and cringe at the outdated cabinets? Do you look at your stained countertops and wonder how do I even put food on this counter? How your kitchen makes you feel in the morning, will either jump start you into productivity, or make you stressed and feeling like there is just one more thing you need to fix one day.

8. You want to sell your home one day. There is a lot of disagreement on whether you should update your kitchen before selling your home and I agree it can depend on your circumstances. (Let’s save that topic for another post.) But adding value to your home can make buyers choose your house over another house and you can probably get more for your money with an updated kitchen. Buyers love clean, functional kitchens!

❌DON’T: HAVE TOO FEW TABLES
One of the most common living room layout mistakes is not providing enough table space for people to put down a drink or a book. Whether it’s because your room is so small you couldn’t fit a table in, or you have a table but it’s so full of accessories that there’s no room for a glass, this is an issue that should be corrected if you want your living space to feel comfortable.
✔️DO: Provide easy access to a table for every seat
For small rooms that feel cluttered, try using a glass table which takes up less visual space. Or if you really don’t have room for end tables, try placing a garden stool in front of the sofa. They look pretty, are small enough to walk around but big enough to hold a cup of coffee.

❌ DON’T: CREATE AN UNCOMFORTABLE CONVERSATION AREA
The living room is the main public gathering place in most homes, so providing a place for people to sit and talk comfortably is important. Most people prefer to be seated facing the person they are talking to, rather than right beside them.
✔️ Do: Arrange furniture to make it easy to talk
To provide a comfortable conversation area, arrange your sofa and chairs in a grouping so people are naturally facing each other.
This can be done in one of two ways:
1. Position sofa and chairs directly across from each other.
2. Create an angle with the seating by positioning them at a 90 degree angle to one another.

Either of these seating arrangements can be done using chairs as well as sofas, so don’t think you need to go out and buy another couch.

❌ DON’T: USE TOO MANY (OR TOO FEW) PIECES OF FURNITURE
If you’re like me and tend towards the maximalist approach to decorating, you might be guilty of this living room layout don’t: Cramming too much furniture into a small space. If people have to contort their bodies to get in and out of the chairs around your coffee table, it may be time to re-think your living room furniture arrangement.
✔️ Do: Space your furniture properly
Follow these rule-of-thumb measurements to create a comfortable furniture arrangement for your living room seating area:
• Leave 14″ to 18″ between the sofa (or chairs) and the coffee table.
• Chairs that are positioned beside each other should be about 18″ apart. That leaves enough room for a small table to fit between them.
• Sofas (or chairs) that are positioned across from each other should be no more than 9 feet apart.

Also make sure you don’t have too many tall breakable things on the tables, or your guests will be doing that contortion thing again to try to avoid breaking them (probably unsuccessfully in some cases).

Trend #1. Quartz is Here to Stay
Quartz was introduced as a high-end alternative to granite. Granite a natural rock, has for years dominated the countertop scene especially for homeowners who want something strong, durable and good looking.

Trend #2. Honed vs. Polished
Since we have been experiencing a design movement using more textured and tactile surfaces, why not consider it in countertops too. Honed and leather surfaces are the most common and can be applied to many different materials, such as granite, marble, and quartz. Even though polished is still the most popular, there are advantages to these two others.

Trend #3. Countertops With Character – Veining and Patterns Get Popular
Smooth and silk-like veining brings character and style. Materials like quartz are being designed to resemble slabs of natural stone, like granite & marble. This involves creating veins in interesting patterns swirled into the countertop slabs.

Trend #4. Kitchen Sink Styles To Get Excited About
Sleek and stylish black countertop with mounted sink. The countertop is getting the modern treatment and the sinks are not being left behind. This year we’re seeing matte black sinks and sink fixtures as well as gold and brass colors take over. These finishes stray away from your typical silver metal sinks. These are also popular faucet color choices foe 2021 bathroom trends!

Trend #5. Bold & Dramatic
The dark charcoal countertop makes an interesting contrast to the white cabinets. Bold and dramatic counters, especially dark counters, can easily seem very gothic in certain circumstances and also perfectly harmonious in others.

Trend #6. Beautiful Backsplash Trends
Backsplashes can be a fun part of the house to decorate as there always seems to be new trends and styles. Basic subways tiles are out! Okay maybe not completely, but if homeowners are using them these days, then they are using larger ones. Or even patterned ones! People are moving on to larger slabs of tiles and tiles with various textures or patterns. The color choices are endless here. It just depends on the other colors you choose in your kitchen and of course personal taste. A pop of color would be very trendy right now and allows you to get more creative with your design. Neutral patterns with natural texture is another option for those looking for a classic look.

Trend #7. Choosing Sustainable Materials
Environmental-friendly countertop made of broken glass. Wanting to choose sustainable materials for the kitchen not only makes you feel good about your decisions and reduces your carbon footprint, but it also is getting easier to find options. Made up of a combination of 75% recycled glass and white cement. This product is also free of VOCs and plastic resins. Recycled glass surface colors range from neutrals to bold jewel tones. Besides the green aspects, the material is durable and an alluring option for your countertop. These surfaces can bring your vision to life elegantly and responsibly.

Trend #8. Concrete Demands
The beautiful concrete designs, in a quartz world, are entering a new territory but meeting the ongoing demand for a refined Urban aesthetic that lends itself to industrial design. Instantly recognizable even though texture, colors, and patterns can vary quite uniquely from a cloud-like patina to multi-layer monochromatic tonal variations, or flecks of contrasting colors giving you the feeling that you are looking at a slab of art.

Trend #9. Outdoor Countertops
Entertain guests and family in this rustic patio countertop. In an outdoor environment, inferior craftsmanship is going to deteriorate quickly. When picking outdoor kitchen countertops, your priority should be durability first and appearance second. Or else, you will find your investment vanishing in an instant.
