Thank you to all our applicants for director positions! It was great to hear all about everyone's experiences, values, and ideas for how to improve GEARE, as well as GEARE ambassadors moving forward!

Results will be announced later this week! For anyone interested that did not apply, do not fret! The GEARE Ambassadors Application Form will be open all semester, though the priority deadline is this Friday, Jan 24 - So get those applications in soon!

Hope everyone had a great first week back! For our first event of the semester, the GEARE ambassadors will be hosting a movie night. The movie is Parasite (2019) - a dark comedy thriller from South Korea directed by B**g Joon-ho. We hope to see you there!

With coming up TOMORROW, we figured we'd give you a sneak peek of the events that we're planning for students on campus next semester. We are planning on an in-person alumni panel for the first time in a while, a panel with exchange students from around the world, and a fun movie night with snacks! The GEARE Ambassadors team is also planning a Geoguessr social with a twist - with photos from students' trips abroad! Help us make our events a success by donating to the GEARE Ambassadors program on Wednesday, April 26th!

José E. Guzmán is a sophomore in Mechanical Engineering studying Spanish, and he is very excited to be a part of the program! He says that he was convinced to apply for GEARE because it was a “unique opportunity to travel to Europe while continuing my major, and get an opportunity to have an international work experience… The fact that I can continue my education, gain work experience, and become fluent in Spanish made GEARE an organization I wanted to join.” Beyond the immersion experience during study abroad, and the GEARE program aim to help students achieve fluency in their respective languages. So far, José has particularly enjoyed his Spanish 323 class with Sr. Rojas (Humanities-Informed Engineering Projects). He says that it has been an interesting class with fun case studies, and doubts that he would have learned about them without the course. Keep up the language learning, José!
