UPCOMING CODE CHANGES FOR RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION

Florida Energy Conservation Building Code R101.4 states:

Effective July 1, 2017: New construction on residential buildings or dwelling units shall have mandatory Blower Door Testing performed by an Approved 3rd Party Agency.

Approved 3rd Party Agency individuals who can conduct the test means: 1. Individuals defined under FS 553.993 (5) or (7)

 Energy Auditor or Energy Rater
 Currently Certified through RESNET or BUILDINGPERFORMANCE INSTITUTE
2. Individuals licensed under FS 489.105(3)(f), (g) or (i) who have received proper training in blower testing methods and procedures.

 Class A Air Conditioner Contractor
 Class B Air Conditioner Contractor
 Mechanical ContractorThe completed Test Report shall be signed by the qualified individual that conducted the test. Proof of proper certification and/or training shall be attached to the Test Report and submitted to the Building Division prior to issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy.
