Forecasts once showed Florida passing North Carolina as a top solar state by 2022. Now, it's sure to happen before the end of this year.

The Solar Energy Industries Association says that in 2021 Florida will build about 2,000 megawatts of new solar capacity. North Carolina, on the other hand, will build about 500 megawatts, it estimates.
