What does it look like when a machine needs additional safety controls but not the complexity of a PLC?

In this demo video (find it on YouTube or on our website's blog!) from the Ramco West Des Moines shop, Amos Hunter walks through a custom safety system our team designed and built to integrate with an existing glue-dispensing machine.

The system adds two sets of light curtains with different reset behaviors, an E-Stop, illuminated operator controls, and a portable cord-and-plug panel design for easy installation and disconnection.

One light curtain automatically allows the machine to resume after the operator clears the protected area. The second requires a manual reset before operation can resume. The E-Stop also requires a manual reset, giving the customer the safety behavior they wanted for different parts of the machine.

And the entire system was designed without a PLC or software.

By keeping the controls simple, Ramco was able to create a solution that's straightforward to troubleshoot and maintain while also helping keep the project cost-effective and relatively quick to implement.

Every machine and application is different. Ramco works with customers from the initial conversation through design, panel build, integration, and the finished control solution.
