Forever admiring the work of acclaimed architect, sculptor and designer A P S in collaboration with Precision Stone on “The Guardians: Hero.”

Saracino looked to Michelangelo’s “David” for inspiration. His response was “Hero,” a reinterpretation of Florence’s historic defender as a symbolic protector of New York City. Presented as a gift from Italy to the United States, the sculpture symbolizes friendship between the two countries and remains on view at Three Bryant Park. Saracino describes the work as a celebration of “the superhuman and the inspiration that it channels.”

Standing 13 feet tall and weighing more than three tons, the figure soars upward through a system of repeated planes of Olympic White Vermont Danby marble. More than 170 individually shaped pieces are stacked to create an outline that suggests movement within the surrounding skyscraper architecture.

The transition from a digital model to monumental stone form required exact drafting, fabrication and careful sequencing. Marble sections were positioned over internal steel rods before lifting, handling and assembly.

Art that makes a tangible difference.

For “Kidney,” artist Robin Antar partnered with NASC, where our team provided digital scanning and stone fabrication. Carved from bright white marble and rich Red Onyx, the sculpture reflects the hope and life-changing impact of kidney donation.

Created in support of - the nonprofit organization that helps kidney patients find donors and navigate the transplant process, the work raises awareness for a mission that has transformed countless lives.

The sculpture took more than a month to fabricate, with CNC machining playing a significant role. Large volumes of stone were first removed with vertical and horizontal blade cuts before progressively smaller milling tools refined the form. An engraving tool captured the final details, and both pieces were hand-finished to complete the sculpture.

Looking back on the making of a truly monumental work.

Years before "Veiled Son" found its permanent home in Naples, Jago brought the project to the North American Sculpture Center, where traditional stone carving met advanced digital technology.

Working from a hand-selected six-ton block of Vermont Danby marble, Jago used our facilities to help realize his vision for this monumental sculpture—one inspired by the timeless beauty of the 18th-century Veiled Christ, while creating a new icon for a contemporary audience.

We're honored to have played a role in the journey of this remarkable work.

The North American Sculpture Center team had a lot of fun developing and fabricating this unique project, transforming the stone into a functional sculpture while exploring new ideas in design and fabrication.

In "Loafer," sculptor elevates a familiar shoe through a dramatic shift in scale.

The nearly four-foot sculpture is an enlarged version of an original stone loafer created by Antar, transforming a classic shoe into something unexpected — an exploration of proportion, form and perception that is uniquely hers.

For more than two decades, Antar has developed her Realism in Stone series, creating hyper-realistic sculptures inspired by everyday objects. Since 2019, we've had the privilege of helping bring many of those artistic visions to life.

Now in fabrication, “Loafer” continues to take shape.

Let’s see what our talented artists are up to.

For artist Roland Mikhail, the idea emerged through an ongoing process of sketching, experimentation and creative exploration — with concepts moving faster than they could fully settle. What began as a series of evolving ideas gradually took shape through more than 50 small sketches and a half-scale medium model.

Now over two years in the making, the marble sculpture continues to evolve through that same process of thought becoming material — translating movement, tension and mental complexity into stone.

We can’t wait to see the finished project.
