The Lights in the DC (Westfield State University)

The Lights in the DC (Westfield State University) A page for WSU students to express their appreciation for the lights in the DC that are always brightly shining - even during the DAY!!!

"One phase of the new master plan was...the renovation and expansion of the campus dining hall, Tim & Jeanne’s Dining commons. That $4 million expansion was completed and dedicated in September."
-Masslive.com

That's right! $4 Million big ones! If we've already spent that much money, how can we let ourselves be responsible by turning the lights off in the DC once in a while? Even during the day w

hen the DC turns into one giant window, letting in an endless, free supply of natural light?! Well, I tell you, that just wouldn't be smart! I mean, why SAVE money when you can SPEND it all on bad ideas?!

Natural light from the bright sky is just POURIN' its way through the vast windows of our 4 million-dollar renovated Dining Commons...better turn those fluorescents on!

1:3 - And God said, Let there be light in the DC: and there was light in the DC.

1:4 - And God saw the light in the DC, and it was good: and God said, Let there be more light in the DC: and his concerned friend, Phillip said, Don't you think there is already enough light in the DC?

1:5 - And God said, absolutely not, I require much more light in the DC! And the light shall burn twenty four hours a day, seven days a week: And so it was done.

Hey all, I know it's been a while since our last update but that's because we have nothing new to report. The lights are still shining bright and inefficient, just like always!

02/29/2012

Due to inclement weather, the lights will be turned up extra bright for today and tomorrow...and then for every day following that.

02/23/2012

Got the lights on for you! No need to thank us!

Around 7:20 this morning, it was brought to our attention that one of the many hanging window lights which border the interior our DC had burnt out. This was a serious problem which required immediate rectification.

So, after making a few phone calls, we succeeded in finding the most expensive electrician in Massachusetts, who agreed to fix our one light for under $10,000. However, after some negotiations, he graciously agreed to jack the price up to $12,000!

This accomplishment will be celebrated tonight at an SGA-sponsered private banquet in the Tekoa Room that students aren't aloud to attend. The menu for tonight's banquet consists of caviar, lobster and a bottle of wine once owned by King Louie XIV. Renowned cellist, Yo-Yo Ma will be tonight's entertainment. We repeat, no students allowed!

Have a nice day, Westfield!

So, how did we do today in terms of lighting?

02/14/2012

1:51pm - It's plenty bright here at the DC! Come and grab a light lunch!

02/14/2012

Come on down to the DC, folks! It's 8:23am and we've got the lights on for ya!
