The John Burns team had a great time at the 2026 Chicago Maintenance of Way Club Golf Outing at Odyssey Golf Course. It was a fun chance to catch up with familiar faces, make new connections, and spend time with others across the rail industry.

Right now, our crews are installing the forms for the building’s concrete walls and columns, carefully setting everything in place ahead of the next concrete pour. Once the forms are in place, they’ll be filled with concrete to create the walls and columns that will support the new utility building.

For John Burns, that story starts in 1906, when Chicago Alderman John Burns founded an underground construction company to help bring electricity to a growing city. Those early partnerships helped build Chicago’s electrical infrastructure and laid the foundation for everything we’ve become over the last 120 years.

While our projects have evolved, our purpose has remained the same: connecting people and improving their lives through the infrastructure that keeps communities moving.
