This water front home in Westport was built 15 years ago and had chronic leaking problems since the beginning. Several other contractors had tried to fix the leaks without success, but by thinking outside the box we were able to find and fix the leaks. The cause was poor flashing details at the windows, reverse lapped house wrap under the siding shingles, open gaps inside the Soffit overhangs that allowed rain water in, how? During high wind rain storms water was being pushed up the walls by the wind and into the soffits. And the chimney flashing was very poorly details, here again reverse lapped flashing and flashing that ran up only an inch or two under the counter flashing that leaked during high wind rain storms that pushed the rain water up under the counter flashing and over the roof flashing.
