How can drones help stop noxious weeds before they spread? Nathan Marcotte of Grand Farm gives an overview of the autonomous UAS grant project, sponsored by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture.

The project uses drones and AI computer vision to identify weeds in their early stages, mainly Palmer amaranth and waterhemp. The team flies drones to collect images, then processes and labels them to build an image library. That library is used to train a model that can pick out these weeds in the field.

Two weeks ago, we welcomed a new kind of crowd to the Grand Farm Innovation Campus! 🌾

Travel writers and content creators from TBEX (Travel Blog Exchange) joined us for a firsthand look at how innovation is shaping the future of agriculture right here in North Dakota.

From exploring the Innovation Campus to learning about the technologies and partnerships driving agriculture forward, it was an opportunity to share the Grand Farm story with storytellers from around the world.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and helped us showcase what makes North Dakota a hub for agricultural innovation!

A big day for Grand Farm and an even bigger step toward what’s next. 🌱

Yesterday, partners, leaders, and community members gathered at the Grand Farm Innovation Campus to officially break ground on Phase II and celebrate the continued growth of the campus.

During the event, Senator John Hoeven announced $5 million in federal funding from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to support a new Indoor AgTech Test Track, creating more opportunities for year-round testing and validation of agricultural technologies.

Alongside the test track, Phase II will include a new Field Operations Facility and BenchBot, an open-source autonomous imaging platform, further expanding the campus’s capabilities for AgTech research, testing, and development.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this milestone and to the partners helping make the next phase of Grand Farm possible.

We’ve officially broken ground. Now, we keep building.
