The Fuel Truck Driver is responsible for operating Croman’s vehicles in support of field operations. The role involves driving a Fuel truck to a base of operations associated with an aerial fire attack, refueling helicopters as necessary and other associated duties. The fuel truck driver will need to be compliant with all applicable regulations, including the Department of Transportation, individual state requirements and the requirements of our individual contracts, primarily with the U.S. Forest service.

This position is seasonal, ending sometime around the end of September. Driver's are assigned specific Aircraft and stay with those craft regardless of mission location. Schedules rotate 12 days on and 6 days off, depending on contract and company needs. Overtime is typical and can be extensive. We are targeting 25.00 per hour, expense reimbursement and a daily per diem for incidentals. Candidates do not have to live near our headquarters in White City, Oregon but should be prepared to travel to remote areas to perform the job - all covered by the company.
Key Responsibilities
Able to safely and effectively operate our Fuel Trucks on various surfaces, typically highway roads. This includes the vehicle itself, communications equipment, and navigation software.
Able to handle basic, routine preventative maintenance tasks on the vehicles, with some general ability to identify when the vehicle or associated equipment is not working as intended.
Able to fuel Helicopters, using the truck’s mechanisms in both normal fueling and hot fueling (fueling while the helicopter is still in operation). Training will be provided.
Able to work a heavy schedule. Ordinarily fuel truck driver’s work 12 days on and 6 days off. Shifts can be as long as 12 hours, with as many as 11 hours of vehicle operation.
Able to Travel as much as 100% of the time.
Experience / Qualifications
A minimum of 1 years experience driving tanker or tanker-like trucks required. 3+ years preferred.
Current and Valid CDL Class A License with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements
Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and willingness to enter the pool for random drug and alcohol testing as required by both DOT and FAA regulations.
Physical Requirements
Fuel Truck Drivers work remotely. Requires frequent or continuous periods of talking, sitting and repetitive motion of the hands/wrists, and good general vision and hearing in relation to operating the fuel truck itself. The role also requires occasional standing, walking, reaching, grasping and handling. Must be able to move and lift as much as 50 pounds over short distances and height. The role will require working long hours.
