Responsible mining means more than just monitoring the environment and mitigating potential impact.

It means economic development, supporting youth programs, building community organizations, and real growth.

Our Community Benefits Agreement with the Meagher County Stewardship Council represents a commitment to our community through a Long-Term Community Investment Fund, educational support, economic diversification, and environmental stewardship.

These priorities came directly from community feedback like focus groups, committee meetings, and town halls.

This is what "doing it right from the beginning" looks like in action.

We're excited to have Nancy Schlepp, VP Communications & Government Relations, speaking this fall at Better In Our Back Yard's 2nd Annual BIOBY Mining and Energy Expo in Minneapolis!

She'll be part of a panel about Montana's copper legacy and future. The discussion will explore how Montana - from historic Butte to today's projects like Black Butte - continues to lead in responsible mineral development.

This conversation matters because domestic copper is essential to America's energy future and national security.

Stay tuned for updates and insights from the event!

Did you know? Montana is the only state with a Hard Rock Mining Impact Plan law!

This law requires large-scale mines and mining projects (75+ employees) to create a plan that assesses impacts on local services and infrastructure - and funds them upfront so local taxpayers don't bear the burden.

Black Butte Copper follows this law, and we paid $437,000 in impact payments in 2020 to help Meagher County, the City of White Sulphur Springs, and School District #8 prepare for our project.

In 2026, an additional $115K will be paid to Meagher County for ongoing costs before our Project goes into construction. Every year this requirement is fully reviewed.
