You aren’t running to the store for milk. You are making one of the most, if not the most important investment of your life and price shopping isn’t the correct way to make your decision. When considering which builder to go with, here are 3 mistakes you should AVOID:
1.) Hiring without speaking to previous clients/customers. Without taking this step you don’t know what the builder is like to work with. Just because they can complete your project does not mean they are organized, detailed, or can provide an enjoyable experience.
2.) Hiring because they have photos of beautiful projects they’ve “built”. Unless you’ve personally walked a job site or project you really don’t know what something looks like. Mistakes and issues are easy to cover up with photos and videos if it is even “one of their projects” to begin with.
3.) Choosing the builder that has a great price but very little detail. You are making this decision solely based on price but realistically you don’t even know what you are getting for that price. The less detail there is in a bid proposal, the more room is left for loopholes and change orders.
