For those, including administration officials, who are frustrated that the oil and gas industry isn't moving quickly to amp up production, here is the explanation in a nutshell: "But companies have been reluctant to invest too heavily in multibillion-dollar drilling operations, which would not yield substantially more barrels for months when the administration is expressing confidence that the strait will reopen within days."

🌊🛢️ Perdido Regional Development Spar — An Ultra-Deepwater Engineering Marvel

The Perdido Spar is one of the most impressive offshore engineering achievements in the Gulf of Mexico.

Operating in nearly 8,000 ft of water, this massive spar platform works as a regional hub for three deepwater fields: Great White, Tobago, and Silvertip.

With a 555 ft hull, 9 mooring lines, subsea boosting pumps, and a production capacity of up to 100,000 barrels of oil per day, Perdido proves how advanced offshore technology can unlock energy resources from extreme depths.

From the surface platform to the seabed production system, every part of Perdido represents engineering precision, innovation, and deepwater expertise.

Respect to the engineers, offshore crews, subsea specialists, and operations teams behind this world-class project. 👷‍♂️⚙️🌎

Of note is a new newsletter: State Power: A new daily newsletter focused on the growing role of U.S. state governments in energy policy, from the grid and permitting to climate policy. It will draw on POLITICO’s policy reporting across key states, including our dedicated three-person Texas bureau. (A first look will run this Wednesday, with a full preview edition beginning July 1.)

“It’s a tale of two cities: crude {oil} folks that are doing cartwheels and backflips,” said Kinetik Holdings, Inc. President & CEO Jamie Welch on a recent earnings call. “And those that are literally localized, gas-centric sellers are literally crying poverty.” https://www.ttnews.com/articles/texas-gas-drillers-wells via

“We’re losing money hand over fist on gas,” Elevation CEO Steve Pruett said in an interview. “Gas is half our product, so it’s really maddening.”
