From the moment he started at Hutton, Ryan Roark’s mindset of lifelong learning caught the eye of his team members. That mindset led him toward leadership, as he became a Teknion-certified foreman, guiding crews and taking on complex work for a Wichita client. As Superintendent Joshua Bassett put it: “Ryan is a true ambassador of Hutton, and I predict he will supersede all expectations.”

Our founder, Mark Hutton, is still building – just in a different way. As part of the Docking State Office project, Mark restored a replica of the Liberty Bell that belongs to Kansas – one of 53 bells gifted to states and territories in 1950. For this bell, Mark rebuilt the yoke, resurfacing the hardware and installing it on a custom concrete base.

It’s a meaningful contribution to the project, and after decades in storage, the bell will now have a permanent home on the new Docking Plaza thanks to Mark’s craftsmanship.

Facility maintenance looks different for all the clients we serve. For Andover Public Schools, that meant a unique summer request: preventative maintenance on gym equipment like basketball and volleyball goals. Hutton Facility Services technician Adrian Rochel took the lead – inspecting bolts, motors, cables, and safety straps, while adjusting set limits and lubricating key components.

The HomeGrown Northwest Arkansas in Bentonville, AR was recently finished, and it’s just one of more than a dozen Hutton Design+Build collaborations with Thrive Restaurant Group. Designed by our team, and built by Jaco General Contractor, Inc., the space reflects Homegrown’s brand experience, with a layout tailored for comfort, flow and the guest-first details that have come to define every Homegrown location. The space shows how a strategic design vision can bring a familiar experience to a new setting.

Construction on Beck's Hybrids’ new 93,000 SF distribution facility in Salina, KS was finished earlier this spring. The space, built by Hutton Design+Build, includes cold and bulk storage, office areas and trucking operations – all built to support farmers across the Midwest. Fun fact: more than 300,000 bolts were used in the construction of the facility.

Last week, our interns received a well-rounded look at life at Hutton, both on and off the jobsite. They spent time learning from leaders about jobsite safety and QA/QC, followed by an afternoon at a Wichita Wind Surge game to strengthen connections outside of work. They also spent a day visiting multiple Hutton Design+Build jobsites to see firsthand the range of projects and the communities we serve.

Wichita Park & Recreation’s Pracht Wetlands is a 90-acre sanctuary in northwest Wichita designed to preserve one of the last remaining wetlands in the Midwest, creating one of the largest urban wetland parks in the United States. Hutton Design+Build installed the original elevated boardwalks in the park and returned this spring to install the next phase.

Built upon helical piers (a process where piles are drilled up to 30 feet into the ground), the boardwalk and bird blinds serve as a minimally invasive structure allowing the public to explore the environment without disruption to wildlife. The recent heavy rain brought the park to life.

Brett is the Senior Marketing Manager at Hutton and has been with us for 13 years. He uses his branding expertise to tell our story through strategy, content and design.

The 13,500 SF remodel of Scholfield Honda’s west Wichita service center is a bold upgrade built around client care and comfort. Designed by TESSERE and built by Hutton Design+Build, the refreshed facility was remodeled to add a modern client lounge, coffee bar and children’s area, while an express service center was updated to help customers get in and out even quicker. A modern look and better ways to serve their customers means Scholfield Honda is focused on providing a top-tier customer experience for years to come.
