🏖️ What do you like to do in your free time?
This year I traveled to Cancun with my wife Cindy. We love the ocean and are already planning future trips.

👷 What is your favorite part about working in the construction industry?
I like the people I get to work with. I enjoy continually learning and seeing my coworkers learn, grow, and move up in the company.

👣 What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Keep moving forward and don't look back.

Congratulations to Victor Gandara and crew for winning month one of UCI's 99 Days of Summer Safety Competition!

This crew earned the top spot by staying engaged with our safety process and consistently working to meet our planning and safety standards. Their efforts throughout the month reflect the importance of taking the time to plan the work, recognize hazards, and looking out for one another.

Today we're welcoming Production Associate Kyle Montojo! 👋

👷‍♂️ How many years have you worked at UCI?
2 1/2 years

🍜 What's your favorite food or restaurant?
I like all kinds of food and will try just about everything. I like Japanese food (sushi/ramen), authentic Filipino food, BBQ, and anything in between. Always up for a great meal and new flavors.

🎣 What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend time with my family and relatives, fishing, working out, watching movies, working on home improvement projects, and fixing up a property.

🏗️ What is your favorite part about working in the construction industry?
My favorite part is seeing a project built from the ground up. Learning new skills and building something that will serve communities for years to come.

🐾 Tell me about your family and/or pets.
I have three brothers, two that work in the construction industry. We have three small dogs and three cats.

💡 What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
Take the harder path, choosing discomfort and discipline because it leads to long term fulfillment.

Today we're getting to know... me! 👋

👷‍♀️ My name is Hannah Roberts. I'm UCI's marketing coordinator, and I've been working at UCI for three months.

What's your favorite food or restaurant?
🧀 I love pizza and pasta—really anything with cheese is my favorite. 😍🍕

Tell me about your family and/or pets.
🐾 I got married this past December. My husband, Joel, and I have a cat named Hazard (named because he's very clumsy and a hazard to himself) and a very energetic cattle dog/border collie cross named Flynn.

What do you like to do in your free time?
🧗‍♀️I've rock climbed for over a decade, and I love to travel and climb outside. I also love board games, gardening and have started training my dog Flynn in agility.

I've worked for UCI for one year

🪵 What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy woodworking projects (see photos).

🏗️ What is your favorite part about working in the construction industry?
No two jobs are the same.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Tell me about your family and/or pets.
I've been married 21 years. My wife works remotely and trains dogs for search and rescue. My daughter, 22, visited family in Georgia and decided to stay. She works in the restaurant business and insurance, and she started a crochet business for fun. My son, 15, is a freshman in high school and is playing football and basketball.

📈 What's your favorite UCI job you've worked on and why?
I've only been on one job site for UCI, but it has been a consistent learning curve, in a good way!

🐄 What's something most people don't know about you?
I grew up on a cattle ranch in Nebraska.

💡 What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
If you think about it for too long, it'll never happen. Best to jump in and figure it out.

This week we're giving a warm welcome to new UCI Production Associate, Anthony Hays! Anthony graduated from Fort Hays State University this past spring with a bachelor’s degree in technology studies.

My favorite food is rice and noodles.

I like to spend my free time in the garden and when I am not doing that, I am helping to raise animals on the family farm.

I enjoy all the different facets of construction and being able to work with my hands.

I have been working at UCI for one year.

🏖️ What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I like to go out with my family to Riverside Park or to the lake.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Tell us about your family.
In my family, there are four of us: my wife Paola, my son Jefferson, and my daughter Melany. We are a migrant family, and we are grateful for the opportunities we have been given in the United States and for the opportunity to work for UCI Construction.

🏗️What is your favorite type of construction work?
My favorite job at UCI is form installation and rebar work. It is something I do easily and feel skilled at.

🙋‍♀️ How many years have you worked at UCI?
Twenty years

🍤 What's your favorite food or restaurant?
Todds Creole Kitchen. I love trying something new every time I go!

🏞️ What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to travel and hang out with family and friends. Sometimes my husband and I will just get in the car and go. I remember one time we just started driving and went on an impulsive driving tour in a big loop around Kansas.

🏗️ What is your favorite part about working in the construction industry?
I really enjoy working with everyone in the field. It makes my day being able to help people!

This week give a warm welcome to Advanced Work Packaging Manager, Austin Kolling! 👋

👷‍♂️ How long have you worked for UCI?
nine years

🌮 What's your favorite food or restaurant?
Mexican food is probably my favorite, but I enjoy all types of food. I'm kind of a foodie, so I'll embrace just about anything at least once.

🎸 What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to learn, so I'm constantly researching/reading, trying to understand the world we live in. I have 3 guitars that I like to play, 2 electric and 1 acoustic. I love listening to music of most all genres. Home renovation projects keep me busy a lot of the time too.

🏗️ What's your favorite UCI job you've worked on and why?
National Beef in Liberal, KS. We built UCI's largest concrete basin! Building, planning, and delivering the basin with our crew of ~16 was incredibly rewarding. Once we hit our rhythm and everyone knew their jobs, we were firing on all cylinders.

I began the job as a crew supervisor then for the second half of the project I was moved into the office as a production associate, giving me the opportunity to help train several crew specialists transitioning into crew supervisor roles.

Moving from the field to the office was a challenging transition, but luckily I was surrounded by supportive co-workers who answered every question and concern. We had weekly on-site training and a culture focused on continuous improvement. Myself and many others greatly benefited from being a part of that project team!
