Opus Corporation is seeking a full-time Lead Carpenter to join our team for projects throughout the State of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
· Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time
· Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
· Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently
· Possible travel between job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects
· Attend weekly/bi-weekly team meetings as requested
· Pick up/transfer fill-in materials as needed
· Confer with the Construction Project Manager on situations that may arise and keep management well informed on the progress of the projects
· Keep an organized management system with a focus on attention to detail
· Plan and direct construction activities on the building site
· Complete each project on schedule and on budget from planning through occupancy, ensuring all contract obligations are satisfied
· Approve work being performed by subcontractors and handle any related issues
· Maintain a safe work site by implementing safety requirements and good housekeeping regulations, enforcing safe work habits, observe OSHA requirements and any state-level agencies regulations
· Maintain compliance with all applicable building codes
· Verify that all checklists are completed, and inspections are scheduled and passed
· Monitor subdivision cleanliness and hold subcontractors responsible for daily clean-up
· Walk projects daily for quality control of workmanship
· Schedule and manage subcontractors to make designated warranty repairs
· Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
· Ability to work additional hours as necessary to meet business needs
· Develop and maintain good rapport with subcontractors, homeowners, city officials, and inspectors
· Apply company policies and enforce uniformity on construction methods to ensure compliance with quality standards
· Suggest ways to improve systems and processes
· Help maintain a fun, yet productive and professional work environment

Prior management experience within a construction environment is a must. The individual must be hardworking and excited to help our company grow.

Project: Eagle Lake Culvert Installation
Location: Eagle Lake, Maine
Date: August to September 2021
Type: Sitework
Client: Gordon Contracting
Scope: Installation of a new 62 ft long 8.5 ft diameter culvert to replace the existing damaged culvert as designed for Maine DOT in Eagle Lake, Maine. The challenges associated with this project was the remoteness of the project and associated lack of resources due to that remoteness.

Project: B291 Renovation
Location: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
Type: Elastomeric Coating
Scope: Opus was contracted to finish a contract another contractor had failed to complete. This included installing the final coat of an elastomeric coating along 10,000 sq ft of exposed foundation. Due to the length of time, the first coating had set prior to applying the final coat the existing coating had to be prepared by power washing the exterior and ensuring the area was prepared according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. This was completed at an active nuclear building where the safety and quality of control of the end product were closely monitored.

Project: Camp Kehoe Building Leveling
Location: Castleton, VT
Type: Building Lifting and Foundation
Client: State of VT – Fish & Wildlife
Scope: The existing Dining Hall and Recreation Hall were in need of a suitable foundation as the existing wooden beams of the historic buildings had rotted away causing the floor and roofline to sag. Opus lifted both buildings and placed them on steel I-beams to carry the load and relevel the building. New concrete piers were then installed to prevent future settlement and damage from occurring. Additionally, the electrical system was brought up to code and new ADA porches and wheelchair ramps were constructed.

Project: Pony Boiler Heat Exchanger Replacement
Location: W&C Hospital – Mobile, AL
Type: CM Mechanical
Client: Alabama Power
Scope: The existing pony boiler heat exchanger failed after only being in services for three years. The pony boiler was taken out of service, the heat exchanger replaced, and the system was put back into service. The failed heat exchanger was sent to the factory for testing where it was determined that the replacement would be covered by warranty.

Project: Cooling Tower Relocation
Location: USA Hospital – Mobile, AL
Type: CM Mechanical
Client: Alabama Power
Scope: The existing Cooling Towers were located at a building that was scheduled for demolition. These towers were disassembled and moved to their new location for reassembly while also typing into the existing Chiller buildings. The towers were used to replace the aging Marley Towers that were currently being used as part of the chilled water system.

Project: Condenser Pump Replacement
Location: W&C Hospital – Mobile, AL
Type: CM Mechanical
Client: Alabama Power
Scope: The project includes the removal of three existing condenser water pumps, branch piping, electric power, controls, and associated components. Two new condenser water pumps were to be provided and installed in a separate location and all piping, electric power, controls, sequence of operation programming, testing and balancing, pump alignment were included.

Project: Electrical Upgrades
Location: W&C Hospital – Mobile, AL
Type: CM Mechanical
Client: Alabama Power
Scope: USA Health was in the process of upgrading the two existing Chiller Units electrical source located at the 2451 University of South Alabama Medical Center Drive Mobile, AL facility. The installation was constructed during several phases of the project in order to limit the amount of outage required for the installation. Requirements included keeping at least one chiller operating at all times.

Project: Warehouse Addition
Location: Westford, VT
Type: Design/Build
Client: Rovers North
Scope: Design, permit, and construct a 5,000 square foot warehouse for the purpose of automobile parts store located in Westford, VT. The floor slab of this building is designed for heavy shelving loads, and the wood-framed walls have large openings for natural light. The roof truss system is constructed with girder trusses at 8 ft o/c to provide an open atmosphere and provide support for a storage mezzanine.

Scope: Renovation of an existing 2,200 square foot dentist office to a new office building for the future home of Waite Engineering & Design Offices. Additional build-out included rental spaces for future tenant spaces. The renovation included extensive ADA.

Project: Exterior Repairs & Painting
Location: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard
Type: Renovation
Client: Balfour Beatty
Scope: The work included the scraping and removal of lead-based paint in accordance with EPA Renovating, Repair, and Painting guidelines at Quarters A and M. The re-painting of all exterior surfaces was performed as well as repairs to deteriorating and wooden components.

New Sap House
Location: Bolton, VT
Type: New Build
Client: Runamok Maple
Scope: Design and construction of a new 2,000 square foot sap house located in Bolton, VT. This is a joint venture project between Bolton Valley Resort and Runamok Maple. The facility will collect the sap of 50,000 taps in its first year in operation with the expandable operation of 100,000 taps in the future. The raw sap will be collected, processed, and transported at this new facility.
