Opus Corporation is seeking a full-time Lead Carpenter to join our team for projects throughout the State of Vermont and New Hampshire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as needed):
· Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time
· Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
· Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently
· Possible travel between job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects
· Attend weekly/bi-weekly team meetings as requested
· Pick up/transfer fill-in materials as needed
· Confer with the Construction Project Manager on situations that may arise and keep management well informed on the progress of the projects
· Keep an organized management system with a focus on attention to detail
· Plan and direct construction activities on the building site
· Complete each project on schedule and on budget from planning through occupancy, ensuring all contract obligations are satisfied
· Approve work being performed by subcontractors and handle any related issues
· Maintain a safe work site by implementing safety requirements and good housekeeping regulations, enforcing safe work habits, observe OSHA requirements and any state-level agencies regulations
· Maintain compliance with all applicable building codes
· Verify that all checklists are completed, and inspections are scheduled and passed
· Monitor subdivision cleanliness and hold subcontractors responsible for daily clean-up
· Walk projects daily for quality control of workmanship
· Schedule and manage subcontractors to make designated warranty repairs
· Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
· Ability to work additional hours as necessary to meet business needs
· Develop and maintain good rapport with subcontractors, homeowners, city officials, and inspectors
· Apply company policies and enforce uniformity on construction methods to ensure compliance with quality standards
· Suggest ways to improve systems and processes
· Help maintain a fun, yet productive and professional work environment
Prior management experience within a construction environment is a must. The individual must be hardworking and excited to help our company grow.
