John M. Skretowski
October 7, 1958 - September 23, 2024
HLJ is sad to share that on September 23, 2024, John Skretowski passed away unexpectedly at home. Born in Camden and raised in Haddon Township, John graduated from Haddon Township High School. He worked as a Foreman with the Philadelphia Carpenters Union Local 164 up until his passing.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, Cindy (nee Hileman); his two daughters, Shannon (Gary) Grosmick and Kaitlyn Skretowski; his granddaughter, Madison Becker and his brother, Richard (Jerri) Skretowski.
John (AKA John the Po**ck) has been a Senior Superintendent of HLJ for over 20 years. Under his management he has built some of the most noteworthy projects for the company including 2100 Hamilton Street, The Nest at Temple, Drexel Recreational Center, Rowan Cooper Medical Center, Holly Pointe Commons at Rowan University and New College House West to name a few. Over his career John has built millions of square feet and poured hundreds of thousands of yards of concrete. He was a legend in the business and had an uncanny way to push through and problem solve. He was a mentor to countless colleagues and has helped to develop very talented current leaders in our company and the industry. His personal relationship with clients and suppliers ran deep. He will be missed greatly. John was a member of Local 164 of the Philadelphia Carpenters Union.
