Produced by Metromont’s Richmond and Wi******er, VA manufacturing facilities Medical students and employees of VCU Health System in Richmond, VA have a more convenient, safer, and more protected parking option on the VCU Health medical campus. Built to replace an existing surface lot, the VCU Health System Parking Garage is a five-story precast concrete parking deck with a medium sandblast finish on the exterior façade. Developed as a precast concrete design-build project with Howard Shockey & Sons and The Eisen Group, the parking deck provides 1200 new parking spaces for VCU Health’s medical students and employees and includes parking to accommodate the future growth of the medical campus. A design-build industrial project located in Martinsburg, WV, the BGP-Clorox Storage Warehouse consists of nearly 137,000 square feet of precast concrete wall panels produced by Shockey Precast at our Wi******er, VA manufacturing facility. The new Class A warehouse includes 36’ clear heights, cross decks, LED lighting, and an ESFR sprinkler system. This September, team members from our Engineering Department went back to school, participating in career fairs at University of Virginia and West Virginia University.
We were truly inspired by the bright, talented students we met — future leaders ready to make their mark in the precast industry!

Students had the opportunity to learn more about Metromont’s innovative projects, exciting career opportunities, and internship program, while also discovering what makes Metromont a great place to make an impact and succeed.

Kicking off the Fall Precast Studio with inspiration at Virginia Tech!
Our VP of Engineering for VA, David Orndorff, and Dawn Decker from PCI Mid-Atlantic Chapter spoke with students about the materiality of concrete, sustainability, the precast industry, and real-world applications — including a multifamily case study.
This year’s design challenge: creating a Shelter for Displaced Women in downtown Richmond, showcasing the resilience, speed, and craftsmanship of precast concrete. 🏗️💡
