This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the men and women who served our nation and reflect on places that carry their legacy forward.
One of these places is the historic Hazel-Pruitt Armory at Shenandoah University. Once home to Virginia National Guard soldiers who trained for World War II, including members of the 116th Infantry Regiment who departed for D-Day, the armory has recently transformed into the HIVE: the Hub for Innovators, Veterans, and Entrepreneurs.
At the heart of the HIVE is Shenandoah University’s comprehensive Veterans, Military and Families Center (VMFC), which provides military-affiliated students and families with academic support, career guidance, counseling resources, peer connections, and pathways into high-demand technology fields, including cybersecurity, immersive reality, and data analytics. The center helps veterans successfully transition from military service to campus life and future careers while fostering a strong sense of belonging and community.
The HIVE stands as more than an award-winning project. It's a bridge between past and future... a place where the legacy of those who served inspires the next generation to learn, create, and lead.
