My least profitable project to date-
It’s still worth sharing, as my goal was to either use whatever leftover parts I had laying around from years of racing or build everything myself. This project t began in the early months of 2026. I ended up not spending a ton of $ on this kart but I would hate to know the amount of hours I have wrapped up in it.
The frame was bent and considered “no good” to competition kart racers. I got it for free & straightened it out. The power plant is a crf250R Engine, not your typical go kart engine... After a lot of time and custom made parts, it hauled ass. It made it 3 races before the engine received internal damage, it’s now getting rebuilt and I’m eager to get it going for the fall months. All in all, it hasn’t made me a single dollar & it wasn’t what Dave Ramsey would have recommended to buy. But it’s a representation of what can be and that’s good enough for me 😎

There’s many of ways this could have been fixed- this is how I did this project to stay within the customers time frame & budget.
I started by repairing what was left of the threads on the engine block, and got them to accept a stainless bolt. These particular stainless bolts are called “vented” screws. They have a hole already drilled in the center. It makes it a lot easier if things don’t go as planned and they have to be extracted the hard way.
I continued to weld over the stainless bolt then remove the bolt while everything was still warm. This creates threads that aren’t perfect, but they are in the exact location. After that it was helicoils, and ready to race again. I’m confident those threads are as good as they’ve ever been.

Something cool we've been doing-I've drawn & made some sprint car panels for a couple teams local to the shop. Pictured are the last ones completed, they requested a design change from their original panels in attempts to make maintenance/washing a little easier. We also wrapped the panel around the headers a little more for added protection of the nozzles & spark plugs, it makes for an attractive look too.

Here’s a random dump of some mini sprints I’ve been mounting engines In, repairing frames, making body panels, & whatever else needs done on them.
The mini sprints can be tough cars to build and maintain. A lot of the companies that made parts have went out of business. It’s not as easy as the racer/car owner ordering the parts and putting them on. I do my best to fill that gap when possible.

I want all of my customers to be thrilled when they leave my shop.
But with this project in particular, if the customer ended up rejecting the product, I wouldn't mind keeping it myself! This thing is cool.
Every inch of it except the door latches, was made in Winslow, starting with flat sheets of aluminum and 20-foot sticks of box tubing. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

One of my behind-the-scenes projects—
I built my own ladders when I raced micros & once I stopped racing, I never really thought much more about it. Recently, I dug out the fixture for the micro and designed a sprint car, midget, & mini sprint fixture while I was at it.
Maybe I shouldn’t post pictures of them (the jigs) since I’ve put a lot of time and thought into making them—but I want them to represent the quality of the product.
Long story short, I’ll keep a handful of each size listed below made up and “in stock.” I may also make a few custom ones here and there upon request. If you need one in a pinch or just want to shop local, I’d be glad to get in touch.

Ladders:
• 10” – Micro Joes style, 3-hole
• 13 5/8” down the leg
• 14” down the leg

Straps:
• 5”, 6”, 7”
