The Linville Creek Nutrient Bank Phase 2 is a privately owned restoration project in Rockingham County, near Harrisonburg, Virginia. Before restoration, the property was extensively used for agriculture, and years of cattle accessing the stream for drinking water left the channel vertically and laterally unstable.

The project included:

~Excavating 1,100 linear feet of floodplain, generating about 9,000 cubic yards of spoil material

~Adding woody debris to create floodplain roughness

~Relocating the stream channel and installing riffles and grade control structures

~Building soil lifts and planting a variety of trees and shrubs

Awarded through a competitive bid process, the project was completed ahead of schedule and within budget.

Nestled in the heart of Raleigh's North Hills Innovation District (NHID), this stunning urban stream restoration masterfully blends ecology and urban design. Designed by Soil & Environmental Consultants and constructed by North State Environmental, the project goes far beyond simple infrastructure. Featuring five boulder grade control structures and a commanding 400-foot boulder wall, the stream is a beautiful amenity for the surrounding shops, residences, and offices. The design offers crucial grade control and bank protection while preserving a vital touch of nature to enhance the daily experience of all locals and visitors.
