A public announcement to help, if your fireplace has a wall switch and the pilot light is on continuously, the wall switch will still work,as well as your remote provided the batteries in the hand held remote and the receiver box are good if the power is out. If your fireplace is an electronic ignition type unit, aka, lights the pilot when you turn it on every time, make sure you have fresh batteries in the battery pack in the control area of your fireplace.
