Refrigeration & Electric Service, Inc., was established by Jim & Jean Losey in 1949. Jim rewound electric motors, repaired refrigerators, rebuilt refrigeration compressors, and serviced appliances. Jean assisted in this and even repainted damaged appliances. Over the years, as air conditioning became more abundant, the focus shifted to air conditioning and refrigeration work. Now, the company specializes in the installation and service of all types of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment as state certified Class A air conditioning contractors. The Loseys ran the company until 1984 when Joe Strickler entered the business as Vice President and General Manager. He was also minority owner. Sharon Strickler came on as office manager in 1993. As the years passed, Jim retired and Joe became President and majority owner. Joe and Sharon are planning to retire in May, 2019. Then, Chris Holley and Lee Rankin will take control of the company to continue providing the quality and expertise everyone has known from Refrigeration & Electric Service, Inc. Chris Holley has worked for R&E since 1989 and has had the titles of installer, service technician, project manager, estimator, designer, engineer, and all around trouble shooter. Chris has passed the requirements for Test & Balance Supervisor from the National Balance Institute. He has also met the requirements for NATE certification. With over 32 years of HVAC experience, Chris is the epitome of an “in the field” contractor. Lee Rankin started his career with R&E in 2002 as an installation helper and has worked his way through the ranks over the years. Lee left R&E in 2010 for an opportunity to work for a data center and building management company, but he always stayed close and worked with R&E on certain projects. He rejoined the company in 2015, bringing with him the knowledge and experience of being a factory trained Liebert technician, Carrier Controls Certified technician (I-Vue & 3V), and a Carrier 23XL chiller certified technician. He has over 14 years of HVAC installation and service experience. Refrigeration & Electric Service, Inc., takes pride in doing jobs that other say can’t be done. Thinking “outside the box” when it comes to complex, unusual jobs helps our customers. General Contractors know R&E is the one to go to when “value engineering” is needed on a job that is over budget or has other problems. Carrier is our primary brand of equipment, but other brands such as Payne (a division of Carrier) and Goodman (a division of Daikin) are available. Service technicians are experienced on all makes and models of air conditioning equipment. We stock parts that are most frequently needed and can quickly procure anything not in our stock. Our lead employees have passed the North American Technician Excellence (NATE) exam for heat pump service (which includes air conditioning.) This means they are nationally recognized for proficiency in servicing and installing air conditioners and heat pumps. They are also certified by the EPA to handle refrigerants. Our service department is available with no overtime charges for 8 am to 8 pm, seven days per week. If you require 24 hour service availability, we have arrangements that can be made to provide the service you need.
