Tube bending tolerances: ±1° angle and ±1/16″ length. Two numbers that determine whether a tube passes OEM incoming inspection.

In a multi-bend assembly, angle error compounds across every bend. A part can be within spec at each individual bend and still fail fit check at assembly. That's why documented process control matters more than individual operator skill. New post on what these tolerances control in practice - and what happens when they drift.

Tube bending tolerances define whether a fabricated part will function inside a larger OEM assembly. Two numbers determine qualification at TEC: ±1° angle tolerance and ±1/16" length tolerance. These are not aspirational targets - they are documented, repeatable minimums held across every part in...

CNC vs. manual tube bending. For OEM production, it's about process control - not just the machine.

A CNC program holds +-1 degree and +-1/16" tolerances across every part in every run. Manual bending holds them when the right operator is running the machine.

New post on why that difference matters for OEM programs.

Short-run tube orders don’t fail because of volume. They fail when process discipline drops.

Repeatability requires documented setups, CNC mandrel bending, and inspection at any quantity.

Tube bending rework rarely starts at final assembly.

It begins when bend angle, length, ovality, or wall thickness drift outside documented tolerance.

Minor deviation at the bend compounds downstream — forcing weld correction, added joints, and alignment adjustments.

CNC mandrel bending, ±1° angular accuracy, ±1/16″ length tolerance, and in-process inspection reduce that risk before it affects production.
