03/26/2025

Scodeller Construction, Inc. is looking for a motivated, experienced welder to join our company as a Welder Fabricator. As part of our team, you will construct and manufacture metal parts and products, taking particular care to produce clean, polished welds. You follow blueprints, determine material measurements, and take responsibility for fabricating parts used in later assembly processes. You are responsible for the quality of your output, so you must be able to perform simple tests to ensure weld quality and tolerance.

Welder Fabricator Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cutting and joining metal parts for fabricating or repairing vehicle equipment, furniture, tools and various other articles, applying tools like mig-welder, plasma cutter, arc welder, chop saw, oxyacetylene torch etc.
• Experience with vehicle welding, and heavy equipment welding required / preferred.
• Designing and fabricating the equipment and parts for meeting the special or unusual needs, using the manufacturer specifications, calculator, measuring devices, drawings etc.
• Installing or removing any special equipment like paint machine, grinder, power and hand tools etc.
• Produce strong, clean welds.
• Test output to ensure strength and tolerance of welds.
• Designing and creating holding jigs that aid in fabrication of the parts in various numbers.
• Maintaining a record of all the work completed so as to facilitate the accounting activities.
• Maintaining routine inventory supplies that are used for operating the welding unit via inspection of stocks and ordering fresh stock as and when required.
• Required to bring welding helmet and hand tools (i.e., wrenches, sockets, impacts, etc.)

Welder Fabricator Skills and Specifications:
• Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and of various welding fluxes and rods.
• Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.
• Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment.
• Fabrication and metal construction without a print to reference are the most important skills. The welder will be responsible for repair welding and the construction of new custom equipment. Building custom equipment is much more difficult, the functionality and durability of the product is entirely dependent on the skill of the fabricator. Many of the vehicles and equipment used by Scodeller are made in house and no prints are available to build from.
• The welder will need to be skilled in GMAW/SMAW/TIG welding. 75% of the work is carbon steel but there is no sense in hiring a welder that does not have experience with non-ferrous materials and the more complex welding processes.
• Ideal candidates will have vehicle mechanic experience especially heavy trucks.
• Ideal candidates will have painting experience.
• Ideal candidates will know how to maintain welding and other shop equipment.
• Ideal candidates will have a Class A CDL.
• Please also be aware that physical labor will be required in this position, and the role will be to take direction from and assist the mechanics in getting vehicles and equipment built or repaired.

Welder Fabricator Education and Qualification:
• Basic mathematics skills.
• Extensive knowledge of welding symbols and blueprint reading skills.

• Ability to stand, crouch, and occasionally lift heavy equipment.
• Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding TIG welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals.

Benefits:
• 401(k)
• 401(k) matching
• Dental insurance
• Employee assistance program
