If you haven’t heard of the Scratch Tamer yet then you may soon be in the minority. The Scratch Tamer is a new type of pusher recently developed by Champion Screw Machine Eng. to feed bar stock without marking the bar, and it has a steadily growing fan base in the industry. Kevin Coffman of Champion explains, “The response to this product has been very good, and a little surprising. He attributes the success to the fact that the pusher, while new, employs a familiar design. “Many of our customers are comfortable with using cage style pushers. They have tensioned their steel or bronze cage pushers by hand for years. This is just a cage pusher with a poly resin core. Combine that with the fact that compared to bronze pushers the Scratch Tamer costs less, has better availability, and is guaranteed not to mark the
bar, and you have a combination that’s right for those applications.”

Champion has developed a solution to problems with broken chains that drive Threading on 1-1/4 RA6 thru 2-5/8 RB8 National Acme Automatic Screw Machines. The chain tensioner gets mounted in the attachment bore 2nd position on a 6 spindle and 3rd position on an 8 spindle machine.
