Boston 1st major US city to order halt on all construction - Boston Mayor Martin Walsh has ordered construction projects in the city to be shut down for at least the next two weeks in response to the coronavirus outbreak, which has stricken 33 of the city’s residents as of Tuesday morning. As of this morning, here in Washington state, our political leaders have not advocated for this step in combating the Coronavirus. Be safe by washing your hands often, social distancing yourself, and paying attention to any possible symptoms. Tacoma, Washington - After three years of construction, Metro Parks Tacoma will open the Wilson Way bridge and Dune Peninsula at Point Defiance Park on July 6, 2019. The transformation from a Superfund wasteland that influenced a seminal sci-fi novel into a world-class waterfront park is nearly complete. The Belarde Company built the concrete pathways, stairs, plazas, and concrete benches scattered throughout the park. Kiewit has been selected by Sound Transit to design and build the Federal Way Link Light Rail Extension. The Belarde Company has worked on several projects with Kiewit in the Puget Sound for several years. We congratulate them on their success on being awarded this contract. With many Sound Transit projects in its portfolio of completed jobs, the Belarde Company hopes to continue being among its many colleagues in expanding light rail throughout Puget Sound.
