Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating 40 years of Sierra Construction alongside so many who have been part of our story.

While 40 years is an incredible milestone, the evening was really about something much bigger — the people.

Bringing together those who have helped build the company over the past four decades — past and present employees, clients, subcontractors, and longtime partners — was a meaningful reminder of what has made these 40 years possible. We are incredibly grateful for the relationships that have shaped our past and continue to guide our future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating Sierra Construction, whether in person or from afar. It has been our privilege, and we look forward to the years to come.

20. Kohls – Hillsboro, OR
In 2006, Sierra began a series of three new ground-up Kohl’s department stores over the course of 18 months. These locations included Hillsboro, Oregon, as well as Burlington and Covington, Washington. These projects were each completed in just 15-20 weeks from ground-breaking to turnover.

19. Granite Court – Redmond, WA
The commercial development of Redmond Ridge in 2005 created a wide range of opportunities in retail, commercial, industrial and flex-use construction. During this time, Sierra developed a particularly strong partnership with PacTrust. Beginning with Granite Court, a 30,000 square foot speculative office building, Sierra went on to complete numerous industrial and flex-tech projects within Redmond Ridge over the course of the last 20 years.

18. Lowes – Nampa, ID
After Lowe’s purchased Eagle Hardware in 1998, Sierra continued on to build five new locations for the home-improvement retailer. Then, in 2003, Sierra broke into the Idaho market to complete a new Lowes location in Nampa. The 164,000 square foot location was completed in a quick 5 month turnaround.

17. Woodinville Athletic Center - Woodinville, WA
In the early 2000s, Sierra completed numerous development and construction projects in Woodinville. One of which was the Woodinville Athletic Center, which was a 60,000 square foot, two-story commercial building. The building housed four health and fitness replated tenants, and included a regulation 25 yard swimming pool and multiple basketball courts. This project was possible as a result of other successfully completed Woodinville projects including the Nobo Business Park and Woodinville Mini-Storage in the years prior.

16. Walmart – Lacey, WA
In 2002, Sierra completed the first of what would later result in 24 projects to-date in Washington, Oregon and Idaho for Walmart. These projects included new construction of Neighborhood Markets and Supercenters, as well as various remodel and renovation projects over the next 15 years.

Who else remembers their early building facades, before the modern blue and yellow?

15. University Audi & VW – Seattle, WA
In 2001, Sierra completed a new 8,072 square foot Audi/VW dealership for Freeway Motors.

In 2013, the Freeway Motors team reconnected with Sierra to complete their expansion project. The expansion included a new, multi-level 122,680 square foot sales, service and showroom for Audi just north of the original dealership. The two-story helical car ramp around a three-story radial wall is a prominent feature of the dealership along 11th Ave NE in Seattle.

14. Civica Commons – Bellevue, WA
In 1999, Sierra began a joint venture project with Howard S. Wright Construction to build a 666,500-square-foot mid-rise office building in downtown Bellevue.

Operating as Sierra-Wright LLC, the team completed the six and eight story Civica Commons project in 2001 and was awarded SIOR Office Development of the Year. The two-building project utilized 28,000 cubic yards of concrete, and crews placed 2,500 tons of reinforcing steel and 700,000 pounds of post-tensioning cable.
