Hygieia Biological Laboratories For over thirty years, Hygieia has been developing vaccines and other treatments for well-being. Hygieia was established in 1991 and remains privately held.

Our work is powered by a diverse group of scientists who care about community and whose commitment to creating novel solutions is unwavering. Hygieia Biological Laboratories is a Woodland, California based biotechnology company engaged in the research, development and manufacturing of innovative veterinary and human vaccines and pharmaceuticals. We have particular expertise in vaccines for dairy,

poultry, cattle and small ruminants, with products in development for aquaculture. Although our primary technical focus is on infectious disease, toxins, venoms and cancers, we are equipped to solve almost any disease problem using artful combinations of traditional, modern and novel technology. Among many firsts, Hygieia is the only company in the world that manufactures commercial vaccines against a venom. We were the first company to manufacture a vaccine against bovine mastitis caused by Streptococcus uberis and the first company to manufacture a commercial vaccine against epizootic bovine abortion. We employ a community of 70 people dedicated to the control of disease. The Company occupies 100,000 square feet of laboratory and associated facilities and is growing rapidly.

Our time spent in the lab wouldn't be nearly as impactful without the time spent with real producers in the field; asking them questions, learning from them, and determining how we can help combat their animal health challenges.

Hygieia is at the California Cattlemen's Association Convention and Trade Show this week chatting with producers and attending meetings.

One exciting update is that the California Health and Food Safety Lab at UC Davis has now taken over EBA testing with a more efficient, streamlined procedure.

This testing can help producers manage foothill disease and incorporate the Hygieia EBA vaccine into their heard health plan!
