The Ohio Society of Professional Surveyors (OSPS) is pleased to introduce Dean Ringle, PS, PE, as our Executive Director.

Dean has been a long-time active member of OSPS, serving as various past committee chairs and conference chairs, along with serving as State President.

Dean currently works as Senior Engineering Advisor for Resource International, Inc., a multi-discipline surveying and engineering firm, along with being a member of the Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors and an active national committee member and Past President of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. Dean formerly served 7 years as Executive Director of the County Engineers Association of Ohio and as the elected Franklin County Engineer for 17 years. He also taught as an Adjunct Faculty member at The Ohio State University for 25 years.

We appreciate Dean’s willingness to share his time and expertise with OSPS.

The rectangular grid visible in Ohio's township roads and county maps is not an accident. It traces back to the Land Ordinance of 1785, when Congress established a system that required the land to be surveyed before it could be settled. Say "surveyor" and a lot of people picture someone squinting through a tripod on the side of the road. Fair enough. That tripod is now a robotic instrument that tracks its own target, talks to satellites, and sends data straight to a tablet. Add drones, 3D scanners, and GPS that can pin a spot within a fraction of an inch, and the day looks a lot more like tech work than most people expect.
