Hello beautiful souls, :)

Here is a cool deck salvage that we did this summer. Our clients wanted to save as much of his back deck as possible for their budget. When we started pulling the old rotted boards off, we discovered that it was not built to code and much of the framing rotten to the core. Being that this is a vacation rental, the legal burden fell hard on the home owner. The deck and railing were well on the way to falling off, because a person could lean on it and it would have fallen off. Good thing they reached out to us before that happened.

As usual, our goal is to build sustainably and for longevity, being that the home is less than a mile away from the ocean, maintenance and building are key. The wood we used was pressure treated, then coated with marine water proofing used on wood boats. The fasteners and hardware are all marine grade and rust resistant. The fence post bases are marine plastic with the balusters being aluminum and powder coated for longevity on the coast.

As you will notice in the final picture, 90% of the deck board were replaced and the shape of the deck was changed slightly to to meet structural safety and integrity. We can not express the importance of deck maintenance, especially when the property is used as a vacation rental. A faulty deck could cost the owner their entire nest egg because a guest fell through it or off of it due to a rotted fastener or deck board.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone! We have had an awesome summer and want to share some pictures of our deck re-build that we completed in Yachats. This deck is made of all marine grade materials, the wood was treated with marine water proofing material used on boats. The balusters are made of powder Coated aluminum and all the hangers, fasteners and connectors are all marine grade rust resistant stainless steel. It is our mission to build sustainable and build for longevity. What we build adds value to your home, doesn't fall apart, is anti rust and supercedes building code.
