$49 maintenance!?
There are a few reasons to be cautious with these types of promotions.
Most people are aware that HVAC is a great field to work in, that pays well. If that is the case, how can these companies afford to send a well-paid technician out to perform a maintenance for $50? With just the cost of the cleaning materials, time, and gas to drive out, they have lost money.
What they are not telling you is this “maintenance” is a sales call you didn’t sign up for. Often times, the technician will be looking for reasons to tell you that you need a new system or major repairs that justify a new system.
Another way to look at this would be like taking your car in for a tune-up, and a car salesman comes out and insists you need a new car!
A good, thorough maintenance on your AC system should involve inspecting and cleaning portions of both the outdoor and indoor units, as well as testing operations. This takes time and simply cannot be done for $49, if the goal alone is to perform maintenance!
