Job Description
EDUCATION:

High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred with basic reading and writing skills.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience preferred operating a variety of heavy highway equipment including grader, milling machine, road reclaimer, or equivalent

SPECIAL SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

Mechanical aptitude.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Able to work unsupervised and meet job specifications.
Have a basic understanding of road construction, slopes and grades.
Be willing to learn and understand Top-Con grading system.
Inspect machines on a regular basis for wear and tear and notify the Foreman of any problems.
Performs all preventative maintenance tasks and repairs using the equipment maintenance manual as a guideline.
Traveling extensively within 200 mile radius of York, PA with ability to provide own transportation to project sites within such work area.
Flexibility in hours he/she can work including day or night work, overtime as needed, and weekend work as needed.
When not performing operating duties provide additional support to co-workers as directed by the Foreman.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Must be able to lift up to 60lbs from ground level to waist level and 30lbs to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.
Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
Must be able to work and walk on uneven surfaces.
Must be able to perform job with constant awareness of co-workers, moving equipment, and live traffic.

SPECIAL SKILLS/ ABILITIES:

Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 90lb jack hammer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Remove asphalt from around utilities and drains with the use of a jackhammer.
Guide equipment operators with hand signals and assist with the use of a shovel.
Make sure roadway is cleaned of debris so rad can be reopened to traffic.
Assist with equipment repairs and maintenance as directed by the Foreman.
Assist with chaining and unchaining of equipment for mobilizations.
Traveling extensively within a 200 mile radius of York, PA with ability to provide own transportation to project sites within such work area.
Flexibility in hours he/she can work including day or night work, overtime as needed, and weekend work as needed.
When not performing cleanup duties add additional support to crew as directed by the Foreman.
