The Westfalia team had a blast participating in Keystone Kidspace's Lego Build and Race and supporting a great organization! The track was long and wild, but it was awesome to see everyone work so well together to incorporate each of the requirements (one of them being a mandatory helix which turned out to be the tough spot for the cars to make it past... and of course it was right at the beginning 🙃)

Shout out to the members of Team Westfalia: Tony Bova, Ethan Walker and Tom Moran (with cheering squad Morgan and Logan Walker)

When United States Cold Storage, Inc. needed to transform its facility into a high-density, multi-temperature operation, they partnered with Westfalia.

The challenge was complex: as a 3PL provider, US Cold manages a wide range of customers, SKUs, and storage conditions. They needed a system flexible enough to adapt to shifting client demands while dramatically increasing throughput and reducing labor dependency.

Westfalia's AS/RS delivered:
→ A dual-chamber design with a dedicated freezer storage alongside a flexible cooler, allowing US Cold to adjust configurations based on evolving customer needs
→ Tandem cranes moving two pallets simultaneously for faster throughput
→ Full pallet, layer, and case picking integrated directly into the racking structure
→ A dual-level conveyor system separating inbound and outbound operations for smoother flow

The result? A cold storage operation that's more flexible, more efficient, and built to scale.

AMRs at Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits: Where Flexibility Meets Automation

Fixed conveyor systems are powerful, but they can't go everywhere. When you need automated material transport in areas where permanent conveyors aren't practical, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) with lifting or conveyor load handling devices bridge the gap.

AMRs equipped with chain driven live roller (CDLR) conveyors combine the navigational flexibility of autonomous mobile robots with the pallet handling speed of powered conveyors. They pick up, transport, and deliver pallets to fixed conveyor lines, staging areas, or directly to production without fixed infrastructure in between.

The CDLR conveyor featured below provides roller centers on 3” centers to handle any pallet types, stainless steel pop-up end stops for safety, drip pan under rollers for easy cleaning, and easily accessible side access controls to provide a sleek, low-profile design.

It's the best of both worlds: the speed and reliability of conveyor-based handling with the adaptability of mobile robotics.
