Industrial Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
• Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Installing new production equipment.
• Servicing and maintaining equipment including motors, conveyor systems, transmission systems, hydraulic systems, and production-related equipment.
• Inspecting and assessing the functionality of production machines.
• Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
• Adjusting mechanical and electrical parts using hand and machine tools.
• Fabricating parts for repairs and machine upgrades.
• Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks.
• Communicating with the production team and maintaining a clean work area.
• Preparing and submitting maintenance reports.
• PLC experience is preferred
Industrial Maintenance Technician Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
• Previous work experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
• Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer and report writing skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment.
• Good time-management skills.
• Must be willing to work various shifts
• Must be able to work in extreme hot and cold temperatures
• Must be willing to work safely at elevated heights and small spaces

Job Description:
Job requires experience in Electrical, Mechanical and Hydraulic Maintenance or comparable capability. PLC experience preferred. For the safety of our employees we send all candidates for observed drug tests and physicals.

Job duties:
• Repair machinery and equipment in accordance with previous established job plans
• Troubleshoot and diagnose machinery and equipment
• Repair machinery and equipment on an emergency or “break-in” basis
• Lubricates / PM’s equipment and machinery
• Other duties as assigned which may include but are not limited to; Using hand signals with crane operators, rigging for lifts, examining disassembled parts and diagnosing root cause failure, operate overhead cranes and forklifts.

Qualifications:
• Flexibility to work any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays as required
• Experience with strict safety regulations and rules
• Physically fit with the ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds minimum and climb 10-25 feet
• Will be responsible for purchasing their own tools
• Proven dependability and good attendance with a stable employment history
• Must be able to pass an observed drug test and criminal background screening

Youngstown State University - McDonald Steel/Davis S Houck Scholarship

It's that time of year again - Application Deadline is April 1st

McDonald Steel Corporation established a $100,000 endowment at Youngstown State University Foundation to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the YSU College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. McDonald Steel executives hope the scholarship will enable recipients to pursue a career here in the Mahoning Valley.

The scholarship is designed for full-time students enrolled in YSU’s STEM college. Preference will be given in the following order: employees of McDonald Steel and their descendants, residents of McDonald and residents of the Mahoning Valley. Incoming freshman must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in high school and placement into at least Math 1513 (pre-calculus). Current YSU students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Enrollment Levels: college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior.

Scholarships will be given annually and may be renewed. Selection will be made by a committee in the STEM college.
