Starting Monday, October 7th our contractor will begin using a helicopter to trim some of the lines in this year’s maintenance area. The use of the helicopter requires some outages to keep everyone on the ground safe while the work is being conducted. While we have a general plan of where and when this work will take place, it is very tentative. The work is often delayed by multiple days because of the specific weather conditions required to conduct the work or mechanical issues. Other times the work can be days ahead of schedule because everything is going better than planned. Below is a general map of the areas that will be impacted by this work. There will always be a line crew paired with the helicopter crew to help coordinate the outages and keep them as small as possible. The work is scheduled to last until Friday, October 18th. We know these maintenance outages are annoying, but from what we have seen, once the work is complete, the long-term reduction in outages is worth the short-term inconveniences. Automated calls have been sent out for all members who might be impacted by this work. Thank you for your patience.

The current outage in the Pleasantville area is due to a car accident involving one of the poles belonging to the transmission company which supplies electricity to our Pleasantville substation. Currently the transmission company expects to have power restored by approximately 4:00pm. If we learn more, we will update this post.

08/02/2024

The transmission company that supplies power to our Pleasantville substation will create a planned outage on Monday, August 5th between 10:00pm and Midnight to make repairs to their system. In the event of poor weather, the outage will take place on Tuesday, August 6th during the same time-frame. Calls have gone out to the members who will be impacted by this outage.

*Office Closed – Monday, July 15th*

In every organization, workplace safety is important. In our industry, one mistake can be catastrophic. As of the close of business on Friday, July 12th, the employees of Warren Electric Cooperative have completed 10 calendar years without a lost-time accident. Ten years of each employee watching out for their own safety and the safety of their coworkers, to make sure everyone goes home safe at the end of every job, every storm, every day. This is a major milestone and is cause for celebration.
As a result, the office will be closed on Monday, July 15th. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday.

The crew has finished backfeeding the Whig Hill substation from Irvine. Everyone should be restored at this point.

***Original Post***
Transmission company is having issues with the feed that supplies power to the Whig HIll Substation. The company that maintains those lines does not have an ETA for restoration of the transmission feed. We are calling in additional crews to begin re-routing power to Whig Hill from another substation.

***Update - 10:30am***
The tree was much more cooperative than the crew anticipated. Everyone's power should be restored now. Thanks for your patience.

***Original Post***
While conducting other work in the area, the line crews found a tree on 666 that was threatening the main lines. In order to avoid a prolonged outage when the tree eventually falls into the lines, they are going to create an outage now and get rid of the tree. They are estimating an hour to get the tree removed and the power turned back on. We apologize for the short notice. This outage will impact everyone East of the Whig Hill substation (German Hill, Mayburg, Kelletville, Cherry Grove, etc)
