If you're looking at solar because your power bill is high, it's worth looking at your AC first.

An older AC unit can pull more power than it should, especially during on-peak hours when it's hottest outside. And at night, when the AC is often still running, solar panels aren't producing anything.

So a high bill isn't always a solar question. If your AC is past its lifespan, or you've already put money into repairs and it still isn't keeping up, the AC may be the root cause.

That's why, when planning solar, we can also take a look at the AC. If a homeowner decides to replace an older unit, we can design the solar system around how the home will use energy with the new one, and sometimes that means a smaller system.

Looking at the AC and solar together can give a clearer picture of the whole home.

When you're thinking about solar, one of the first things worth looking at is the roof the panels will sit on.

Solar panels are designed to stay in place for many years, so the roof underneath plays a big part in how the whole project goes. If a roof is getting close to the end of its life, it's usually easier to take care of that before the panels are installed.

That's why our solar process begins with a site survey. One of our technicians goes up on the roof, takes photos and measurements, and looks at how much life the roof has left and whether it's ready to support the panels.

If the roof could use a repair or a replacement, that comes up early, while there's still time to plan for it. Since EcoEnergy Solutions works on both Roofing and Solar, we've been able to help homeowners take care of their roof first and then move forward with solar.

If you’re considering solar, it helps to look at how your whole home is using energy first.

Solar can help with your electric bill, but it does not work in isolation. An older AC can use more electricity than it should, and having the right size system and clean ducts can also make a difference.

Insulation matters because it helps keep the cool air your AC is producing inside the home. Windows matter for the same reason. If they are leaking air, your AC may have to work harder to keep the house comfortable. And if you’re considering solar, the condition of the roof matters too.

That’s why Manny explains that an evaluation can sometimes go beyond the service that brought us to the home. If we notice something else that may be affecting the home’s efficiency, whether it’s the AC, insulation, windows, roof, or solar, we can point it out and explain why it matters.

The goal is to help homeowners understand how these parts of the home work together, so they can make informed decisions about what actually makes sense for their home.

What a great experience it was to be part of this community event hosted by Offroad4Autism! 💙

It was great to see families, local vendors, off-road enthusiasts, performers, and so many members of our community come together, enjoy the activities, and spend time with one another while supporting a meaningful cause.

From the kids enjoying the games and activities to the performances, food, vehicles, and conversations throughout the event, there was a strong sense of community everywhere you looked.

Thank you to Offroad4Autism for giving us the opportunity to be part of such a special event and for everything you do to raise autism awareness throughout Yuma County. 💙
