How do you get more years out of a pipespool that has to resist chemical attack and abrasion inside, and the weather outside?
Corrocoat UK's answer, on a 1200/1000 mm pipespool from a Scottish power station: not one coating, but a system where every layer has a job.
Prep: blasted to Sa 2½, min. 50 μm profile, then blown down, swept and vacuumed.
Inside: Corroglass 600 at 750 μm DFT, cured and spark tested, then Armagel at 1,250 μm against chemical attack and abrasion.
Outside: Plasmet ZF, a surface tolerant epoxy with rust inhibitor, MIO and glass flake, plus a Corrothane AP1 topcoat for colour retention and weathering.
The result: the spool was prepared to go back to the client for many more years of active service.
