From 700kg down to just 76kg.

When people think of advanced composites, they usually picture racing yachts or aerospace. But composites also solve massive practical engineering headaches on commercial vessels.

Case in point: an 85-metre luxury passenger vessel operating on the Mekong River through Vietnam and Cambodia.

To pass beneath low bridges, its 700kg steel mast had to be lowered repeatedly. The sheer weight generated loads that damaged the wheelhouse roof, required crew members to physically help lift it, and relied on a hydraulic system prone to oil leaks.

Triac’s solution? A vacuum-infused E-glass and PVC foam core composite mast weighing just 76kg—an 89% weight reduction.

The result transformed the entire system:

* Replaced heavy hydraulics with a compact, remote-controlled electric actuator

* Completely eliminated structural loading on the wheelhouse roof

* Improved crew safety—no more manual lifting required during bridge transits

* Zero oil leaks and zero corrosion in demanding river environments

Could composites be the answer to your particular issue?

Last week, we shipped a batch of custom composite consoles from Vietnam to Europe. They are used in commercial shipping.

This week, another four consoles were on the move, this time to the same customer’s facility here in Vietnam.

That continuity says a lot.

At Triac, some projects involve one-off custom-built components. Others require repeat production to exactly the same specification, time after time, for long-term partners both within Vietnam and around the world.

These customers rely on composites for very specific reasons:
Lightweight construction. Strength. Corrosion resistance. Durability. Precision finishing. Efficient production.

And all tailored to the customer’s exact operational requirements.

While much of our work is in the marine sector, the same advanced composite manufacturing capabilities apply across a wide range of industries, including:

• Industrial equipment
• Transportation
• Law enforcement
• Commercial products
• Lightweight performance components

If a product can benefit from being lighter, stronger, corrosion-resistant composites may provide the solution.

From prepreg carbon fibre components to large custom glass composite structures, Triac continues to support international customers from our manufacturing base in Vietnam.

Another truckload of custom composite consoles has left Triac's factory in Vietnam, securely packed into our purpose-built shipping crates and bound for a premier European shipbuilder.

For us, it’s business as usual.

From composite consoles and commercial marine components to prepreg carbon structures, high-performance foils and advanced custom projects across industries, Triac continues to deliver world-class composite manufacturing solutions to customers around the globe.

As demand continues to grow, so does our team. We are actively expanding our skilled Vietnamese workforce across a range of composite manufacturing roles as we continue supporting leading international marine and industrial clients.

At Triac, our focus remains simple:

* High-quality builds for prepreg/carbon/glass components and products
* Reliable international supply
* Advanced materials and processes
* Long-term partnerships with global customers

When a Rapido Trimaran hits 20 knots, it isn't just design; it’s high-performance manufacturing by Triac Composites.

In a new interview with Francis Tapon, Triac Composites' co-founder Paul Koch reveals the carbon fiber engineering required to survive the world's toughest offshore conditions.

"Carbon’s the lightest, strongest way of building a fast boat."

While Triac specialiseses inbeing theexclusive builder of Rapido Trimarans and other parts and products in the marine sector, it also manufactures for other industries such as transport, defence.

Triac Composites is closed this week in line with Vietnam’s national holidays, including Reunification Day (30 April) and International Workers’ Day (1 May).

However, advanced manufacturing doesn’t stop. Yesterday, two high-tech prototype carbon foils were successfully shipped to a European customer (see photos below) - on budget, on spec and ahead of schedule.

Foils are a core area of expertise of Triac's. You may recall that, last year, we exhibited in the Foil Technology Zone at Metstrade Amsterdam which is a reflection of our focus on high-performance composite structures.

Triac Composites will reopen after the holiday at 7.30am on Monday, 4 May.

At Triac Composites, safety is built into everything we do.

Yesterday morning, our team carried out a full fire drill in coordination with Unidepot—the operators of the industrial park where we are based—and the local Fire Brigade.

As an international composites manufacturer, we work to global standards. That means taking preparation, training, and risk management seriously, not just in principle, but in practice.

A big thank you to Unidepot and the Fire Brigade for their support and coordination. And well done to all our team - especially our fire wardens - who carried out their roles with professionalism and focus.

The Rapido 500 ECO Power Cat will be back on display at the Malaysia International Boat Show 2026 in Langkawi.

Built using advanced composite construction, this project reflects the core of what we do at Triac, lightweight structures and reliable production for demanding marine applications.

We’re proud to support builds like this and to see them performing in real-world conditions.

What gets noticed in Antarctica?

A 317m (1,040 ft), 122,000-tonne cruise ship… or a 16.2m (53 ft), 9.35-tonne high-performance carbon trimaran?

When Michel Bourque was aboard the Celebrity Equinox, carrying 2,850 passengers across 15 decks, one multihull stood out - Picomole, the Rapido 53XS.

Built by Triac Composites, this advanced carbon performance trimaran proves that precision engineering and lightweight composite construction turns heads - even in the most extreme environments on Earth.

Thankfully, Michel captured these incredible moments and shared them with us.

Big or small, true performance stands out.
