When a Rapido Trimaran hits 20 knots, it isn't just design; it’s high-performance manufacturing by Triac Composites.

In a new interview with Francis Tapon, Triac Composites' co-founder Paul Koch reveals the carbon fiber engineering required to survive the world's toughest offshore conditions.

"Carbon’s the lightest, strongest way of building a fast boat."

While Triac specialiseses inbeing theexclusive builder of Rapido Trimarans and other parts and products in the marine sector, it also manufactures for other industries such as transport, defence.

Triac Composites is closed this week in line with Vietnam’s national holidays, including Reunification Day (30 April) and International Workers’ Day (1 May).

However, advanced manufacturing doesn’t stop. Yesterday, two high-tech prototype carbon foils were successfully shipped to a European customer (see photos below) - on budget, on spec and ahead of schedule.

Foils are a core area of expertise of Triac's. You may recall that, last year, we exhibited in the Foil Technology Zone at Metstrade Amsterdam which is a reflection of our focus on high-performance composite structures.

Triac Composites will reopen after the holiday at 7.30am on Monday, 4 May.

At Triac Composites, safety is built into everything we do.

Yesterday morning, our team carried out a full fire drill in coordination with Unidepot—the operators of the industrial park where we are based—and the local Fire Brigade.

As an international composites manufacturer, we work to global standards. That means taking preparation, training, and risk management seriously, not just in principle, but in practice.

A big thank you to Unidepot and the Fire Brigade for their support and coordination. And well done to all our team - especially our fire wardens - who carried out their roles with professionalism and focus.

The Rapido 500 ECO Power Cat will be back on display at the Malaysia International Boat Show 2026 in Langkawi.

Built using advanced composite construction, this project reflects the core of what we do at Triac, lightweight structures and reliable production for demanding marine applications.

We’re proud to support builds like this and to see them performing in real-world conditions.

What gets noticed in Antarctica?

A 317m (1,040 ft), 122,000-tonne cruise ship… or a 16.2m (53 ft), 9.35-tonne high-performance carbon trimaran?

When Michel Bourque was aboard the Celebrity Equinox, carrying 2,850 passengers across 15 decks, one multihull stood out - Picomole, the Rapido 53XS.

Built by Triac Composites, this advanced carbon performance trimaran proves that precision engineering and lightweight composite construction turns heads - even in the most extreme environments on Earth.

Thankfully, Michel captured these incredible moments and shared them with us.

Big or small, true performance stands out.

From the Mekong to the edge of the Southern Ocean.

A high-performance carbon composite structure built by Triac Composites has now crossed the Drake Passage twice and cruised the waters of Antarctica; one of the most demanding marine environments on the planet.

This voyage is a powerful validation of what disciplined engineering, precision manufacturing and advanced carbon composite construction can achieve in real-world conditions.

For organisations requiring high-performance carbon composite structures - whether that be in marine, industrial or specialist - capability is ultimately measured in performance.

Not all proof of quality comes from a lab.

Some of it comes from the water.

Recent international racing results from Rapido Trimarans offer a practical demonstration of the composite build standards inside Triac’s factory. From computer modelling, to precise construction, to real-world use under racing loads, it’s a cycle of validation and continuous improvement.

A good reminder that the same processes behind these boats are applied to every composite structure we build.

Read more in our latest article which is linked below.

Racing results are exciting — but for Triac Composites, they also provide real-world validation of advanced composite manufacturing. See how Rapido trimarans competing internationally reflect the build quality, processes, and continuous improvement behind every structure we produce.
