A 30-minute year-end marketing review: Find out where you're losing customers before you spend more

Just over eight weeks of 2026 remain, from 1 November to 31 December. This is when business owners usually weigh their marketing budget for the year-end push and for 2027.

When sales fall short, the usual fix is a bigger ad budget. That can bring in more leads. The catch is that customers may be dropping off at another stage, such as slow replies to messages. If so, the extra budget runs into the same bottleneck.

So before you spend more, find out where customers are dropping off.

IBDA is now taking registrations for a free review of your marketing. Together with you, IBDA reviews six areas:

1. Positioning and messaging: Can customers tell right away what you sell, who it's for and why they should choose you?
2. Content: Do your posts and articles answer the questions customers ask before they buy?
3. Channels: Where does your business show up, and which channels bring in customers?
4. Advertising: Who does your ad budget reach, and how many leads does it bring in?
5. Measurement: Can you track your cost per lead and how many leads become paying customers?
6. Lead handling and customer follow-up: How fast are messages and calls answered, and who follows each lead through to the sale?

After the review, IBDA assesses the findings and recommends next steps, in order of priority. You then decide for yourself whether to work with IBDA.

The review suits SMEs, including foreign-invested companies in Vietnam, that are already marketing, whether it's handled by the owner, an in-house team or an outside agency. Not marketing on any channel yet? You can still register.

IBDA is taking 20 businesses in this round. Registration closes at the end of Monday, 30 November 2026.

Why your marketing report should go beyond reach

When each marketing vendor reports on its own work, you can end up with a stack of numbers: reach, likes, video views, ad clicks.

Those numbers are useful: they tell you whether your posts and ads are being seen. What they don't answer is the question every owner wants answered: How many customers did this month's marketing spend bring in?

Each vendor reports only on its own part, so nobody adds the parts up into one result.

Save the three numbers in the image and ask your marketing team or agency to include them in your next report:

- Leads: People who left their contact details or messaged to ask about your services.
- Cost per lead (CPL): How much you're paying for each lead.
- Customers won: How many leads went on to buy or sign.

The third number needs your sales data, so your marketing and sales teams should agree on how to count it. With all three on one page, you can compare month by month and decide where to raise or cut the budget.

With IBDA, you get a one-page monthly report through one point of contact, covering these three numbers plus the detailed metrics for each function.

Which numbers does your marketing report show right now? Tell us in the comments.

Four vendors, one challenge: Who is connecting the pieces?

Hire four vendors for content, design, video and ads, and each one may do its own part well.

The setup has real upsides: a specialist for every function, and an easy switch if one vendor isn't working out. The catch is the work that sits between them.

Say you're running an end-of-month promotion. The writer needs the offer details to write the post. The designer needs the post to make the visuals. The video team needs the same details to cut the clip. The ads team needs the visuals and the video to build the campaign. If the offer changes, the owner has to update all four.

The person passing on updates, chasing files and checking that everything lines up is usually the business owner. When the owner is busy, the campaign waits.

Nobody owns the job of connecting the pieces, so it lands with the owner.

With IBDA, you work with one point of contact. That contact takes your brief once, coordinates the people handling content, design, video and ads, and sends back finished work for you to approve.

The full article on the hidden costs of working with multiple vendors is linked in the first comment.

Behind every dish customers remember is a complete marketing system

When a Vietnamese F&B brand opens in Australia, the US or Canada, customers remember it through the food and the posts they see on their phones. Behind that are four things that need doing every week:

- Bilingual content: English posts for local customers, Vietnamese posts for the Vietnamese community. Both need the same voice, the same dishes and the same prices.
- Food photos: New dishes and seasonal specials need new photos. A consistent style helps customers spot the restaurant in their feed.
- Local ads: Ads reach people who live and work nearby. Spend and foot traffic need checking every week.
- Google Maps and website: Many customers look a restaurant up on Google Maps before they go. Opening hours, menu and photos on the Google Business Profile and the website need to match what customers will find when they arrive.

Each of these takes a different skill. Split across several vendors, each channel tends to drift into its own voice and each vendor works in its own photo style. The person left putting it all together is usually the owner.

IBDA handles all four through one point of contact. Behind that contact, dedicated people cover bilingual content, design and photo editing, ads and the website, all working from one weekly plan.

Three coffee shops, one test: Is AI making brands sound alike?

Many café owners now use AI to write their posts faster. We ran a small test to see what comes out.

We gave an AI tool the same prompt three times, changing only the shop name: “Write a Facebook post of about 100 words introducing [shop name], a coffee shop in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.” The three shops, Mây, Gác Nhỏ and Hiên Nắng, are made up.

All three posts read smoothly. They also repeated the same four ideas:

- The opening: all three began with “Amid the bustle/rush of District 3”.
- The promise: a moment of quiet, a peaceful corner, moments of peace.
- What guests do there: read, work, chat with friends, watch the street (each post picked two or three).
- The coffee: “brewed with care”, “brewed with meticulous care”, “brewed slowly”.

Hide the names, and it's hard to tell which post belongs to which shop.

AI has clear upsides: a draft in seconds and fluent copy. The catch is that in this test, the AI only had what the prompt gave it. With no signature drinks, regulars or story in the prompt, it falls back on ideas any café could claim.

Suppose the shop shared a few details of its own (the ones below are made up). A content writer could then turn the Hiên Nắng post into this: “Hiên Nắng opens at 6:30. The window tables get morning sun until about 8, so regulars stop by before work. Try the salted coffee, brewed in a phin filter.”

So an AI draft still needs someone to add what makes the brand its own and check the voice before it goes live. IBDA takes this on through one point of contact. Behind that contact, a content specialist writes and edits each post from your business's own details and checks it before it goes live.

Capture Every Lead 24/7: IBDA’s AI Chatbot Solution, Integrated with a Customer Care System.

Are you pouring money into ads so customers can message you at 10 p.m.… only to leave those messages sitting there because your staff have already gone home?

A customer clicks through to your website.

Browses your products.

Then sends a message asking about the price.

Nobody replies until the next morning.

And the customer you paid to reach through advertising may already have gone looking for another option.

That’s no different from throwing money out the window.

Marketing can bring customers to you at any hour.

But your staff can’t always be there.

That’s where IBDA’s AI Chatbot steps in to support your business.

Unlike the cookie-cutter reply tools on the market, IBDA’s AI Chatbot is custom-trained and set up with strict data guardrails — it responds only with 100% accurate answers, based solely on the information, products and price lists your business provides.

The chatbot can instantly respond to common requests such as price inquiries, product or service information, business hours and appointment booking.

Customers don’t have to wait until the next morning to find out what time your store opens.

They don’t have to wait for a staff member to come online just to get basic information.

And if they want to book an appointment, they can do it the moment the need arises.

This solution can help businesses save up to 80% of the time spent answering repetitive messages, and increase sales-closing opportunities from after-hours customers by up to 30%. Instead of repeating the same answers, your staff can focus on in-depth consultations.

But a fast response is only the first step.

Once a customer is interested, your business still needs to know who got in touch, what they’re interested in, and how they should be followed up.

That’s why IBDA can combine the Chatbot with a customer tracking and care system, making it easier for your team to keep track of customers who have interacted and look after them in the next steps.

The Chatbot supports customers when they need a response.

The customer care system helps your team keep following up afterward.

Technology doesn’t completely replace your staff.

It handles the parts of the work that can be automated, so that even a small team can serve customers better.

For a small business, sometimes simply not missing one price inquiry at 10 p.m. is enough to make a difference.

If your business often gets messages after hours, or your team spends a lot of time answering the same questions, let IBDA learn how your business operates.

IBDA will identify where the Chatbot can help, and from there build a solution that fits your business’s real needs!

When the business owner is also the marketing department

On Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day, 13 October, IBDA wishes all entrepreneurs every success in their business.

In many small businesses, the owner runs the company and handles marketing too. They approve the posts, coordinate the designers and video editors, then read the ad reports themselves. We respect the effort that takes.

When marketing isn't clearly assigned to anyone, the work usually ends up with the owner.

You work with one point of contact, and IBDA takes on the ex*****on. You keep the decisions, and the time to run your business.

Which marketing tasks are you still doing yourself? Let us know in the comments.

Five marketing functions at once: How much can one person stay on top of?

Give one marketer all five functions, and they have five metrics to track at once, each tied to a different specialty. When one slips, the fix is different too:

• Engagement drops: rethink the topics and the writing.
• Visuals stop matching across channels: go back to the brand identity and design templates.
• Video completion rate is low: rework the script or the edit.
• Cost per lead (CPL) goes up: adjust the audiences and the ad budget.
• Website conversion rate is low: fix the page copy and the sign-up form.

Handing all five to one person has an upside: one salary, and only one person to deal with. The catch is that it's hard for that person to improve all five metrics at once. Suppose one week goes into fixing the ads: video and the website may have to wait that week.

Switching between functions costs time too. Gloria Mark and colleagues at the University of California, Irvine observed 24 office workers in a 2005 study. When interrupted work was picked up again the same day, it was resumed about 25 minutes later on average. The study didn't look at marketers specifically. Even so, when one person covers all five functions in the same day, leaving one task half-done to deal with another is hard to avoid.

Even a more skilled hire still has to switch between five functions. The problem is how the work is split: five specialties sit with one person. Each function needs its own owner, working from one shared plan.

With IBDA, you work with one point of contact, for the cost of one hire. Behind that contact, a dedicated person handles each function and tracks its metric.

Save this post and share it with someone running marketing on their own. The full article on our website is linked in the first comment.

A morning at a spa: What keeps marketing busy?

This is a hypothetical morning for the solo marketer at a small spa. Between 08:00 and 12:00, this person handles 9 tasks: answering messages, taking photos, designing, writing posts, editing video, adjusting ads, fixing the website, sending a report and scheduling posts.

These 9 tasks call for at least 5 different skills. As the workload grows, posts slow down and quality becomes hard to keep steady, however hard the person works.

When marketing work goes beyond what one person can handle, a business needs a dedicated person for each area, all working to one shared plan.

How many people handle marketing in your business today? We would love to hear from you in the comments.
