Black Summer and the Tara bushfires remind us why hazard reduction matters.

We’re developing LiDAR technology to create detailed 3D maps that will help councils see where vegetation growth poses a bushfire risk and decide where to focus hazard reduction work.

Expressions of interest now open on Birchal.

Thanks to news.com.au for featuring us this week! The story looks at how our Space LiDAR could help spot bushfire risk from space by mapping where fuel builds up, so authorities know where to act before fire season starts.

Bushfire mapping is just one application of our technology. At Spiral Blue we design and make computers and laser sensors for satellites, right here in Sydney. Our mission is to give every satellite the ability to think and to see, with hardware made, flown and owned in Australia. Our Space Edge Computer runs AI on board to sort data in orbit, and our Space LiDAR tracks objects in space and maps the Earth in 3D.

Spiral Blue’s LiDAR gives satellites the ability to see Earth in 3D.

Our team in Sydney is developing space-based LiDAR technology to help satellites create detailed 3D maps of Earth, helping communities better prepare for bushfires and floods, monitor forests, map shallow coastal waters and understand changes in our environment.

Every satellite needs to think and to see. 🛰️

Our Space Edge Computer does the thinking, running AI onboard satellites to process data in space, make decisions in orbit and send down the right data at the right time.

Space Bar is back tomorrow, and we've got a great panel lined up:
Sharmila Fernando - Space Machines Company
Lisa Vitaris -Indo-Pacific Space
Alessandro Delgado - ANT61
And our very own Spiral Blue COO, MJ Akter who will guide the conversation.

Join us from 5pm for a chat, a drink, and a chance to meet others working across Australia's space and deep-tech community.

A big thank you to Saber Astronautics for hosting us, and to ProFound People for supporting the night.

Already attending NSW Space Research Network's From Payload to Mission that morning? Come along afterwards and make a day of it.

Exciting news from the Spiral Blue team!

We’re thrilled to share that Spiral Blue and our two incredible leaders have been named finalists in the Australian Space Awards 2026 -  the seventh instalment of Australia’s premier night of space industry recognition.

Our CEO Taofiq and COO MJ have both been nominated for Executive of the Year, with MJ also recognised as a finalist for Female Space Leader of the Year. Seeing two Spiral Blue leaders on the same shortlist is a testament to the calibre of our leadership team driving this company forward.

As a company, Spiral Blue is also a finalist across three categories: Engineering Business of the Year, Diversity Initiative Program of the Year, and Space Situational Awareness Program of the Year.

At Spiral Blue, we are building space-based LiDAR technology to help address some of Earth’s greatest challenges, including national security, natural disasters, and climate resilience. Our mission is to protect Earth from space by delivering trusted, measurement-grade data that governments, industry, insurers, and communities can use to make better decisions, shape policy, manage risk, and build a more sustainable future.

Space LiDAR is moving from concept to commercial reality!

Spiral Blue has completed its first international LiDAR delivery to Lodestar Space, marking a key milestone in our journey toward sustained global revenue.

This milestone is important because it demonstrates real customer demand for our technology and validates our ability to deliver mission-critical space hardware at scale.

It also strengthens our position in the growing market for orbital sensing, while accelerating our roadmap toward long-range, space-to-Earth LiDAR capabilities.

We are not just building the future of LiDAR in space,
We are delivering it today.
