🧠Traumatic brain injury in children extends beyond the acute event—its consequences may evolve silently, shaping long-term neurological outcomes such as epilepsy.

A recent study published in Archivos de Neurociencias provides important clinical insight into this relationship within a pediatric population. The findings demonstrate that subdural injuries are associated with a significantly increased risk of post-traumatic epilepsy, with a hazard up to 5.6 times higher.

🔬 Research on obesity, metabolism, and brain function
Obesity is a global public health challenge associated with multiple metabolic diseases and mood disorders. An experimental study evaluated the effects of the lipoamino acids N-arachidonoyl glycine (NAGly) and N-oleoyl glycine (OlGly) in animal models fed either a standard diet or an obesogenic diet.
The results showed that the administration of these molecules was associated with greater weight gain, increased fat accumulation, and a decrease in serotonin levels in the hippocampus, a brain region essential for emotional and cognitive regulation.
These findings contribute to expanding our understanding of the relationship between metabolism, diet, and brain function, and open new research avenues on the role of lipoamino acids in obesity and mental health.

We present a comprehensive bibliometric analysis evaluating the scientific output on Parkinson’s disease produced by the institution from 1964 to 2023.

This study incorporates 275 publications indexed in Scopus (176 clinical and 99 experimental) and examines key indicators such as research trends over time, citation patterns, collaboration networks, and journal impact factors. The results highlight:

🧠 Sustained growth in both clinical and preclinical research, with significant contributions to diagnosis, pathophysiology, and treatment.
🌐 High levels of international collaboration (59.4%), underscoring the INNN’s role as a regional leader in the neurosciences.
📉 Predominant publication in national journals with lower impact factors, signaling an important strategic opportunity to strengthen global partnerships and increase visibility through higher-impact international journals.

This analysis positions the INNN as one of the leading institutions in Latin America in neurodegenerative disease research and provides a clear roadmap to further enhance scientific impact in the coming years.
