Volunteers from Kiwa recently honed their tree skills at the Orchard Skills workshop at Gerrards Cross station, hosted by The Tree Council as part of the Rail Roots Initiative with Chiltern Railways.

🎄Orchards are biodiversity hotspots, supporting a wide range of wildlife, priority habitats, and rare species. By participating, our volunteers gained hands-on experience in tree planting, pruning, and propagation - helping preserve heritage tree varieties and ensuring locally grown fruit benefits surrounding communities.

A huge thank you to The Tree Council, KPC, and all the volunteers for making this initiative a success! 🌿💚

What a day at SOFHT! 🚀 Our Pest Consultancy and Agri Food teams had a fantastic time connecting with industry pros and diving into key topics in pest control and food safety.

🔎 Top takeaways:
✅ Allergen risks – A case where peanut butter was used as bait in a nut-free facility, highlights the need for careful oversight.
✅ Data matters – No pests in reports doesn’t always mean no pests. Time to rethink monitoring?
✅ Tech in pest control – Remote monitoring is great, but not a magic bullet. At Kiwa, we’ve trialled GTO (Greentraponline), which detects movement and body heat for smarter pest detection.
