It would have been my Mum Lorna's 99th birthday today. Here she is in front of the veterans wall at Bletchley Park where she worked from 1944 to 1946. She still knew the starting settings for the Colossus machine which the boffins still have to look up. We allies you Mum. X

My Uncle Bernard's Birthday today. He would have been 104. This is Bernard and his crew who all survived. Awarded a DFC.

We suspended this Lynx Mk9 Army attack helicopter in the National Army Museum in Chelsea a short while back. Looks magnificent, go take a look one day, its free too! There will be a big gun mounted on it soon!

Happy new year to anyone who reads this. It will be a better year.
Last year we all just about managed to get through with many losing loved ones, we did.
this year we must look forward yet still be vigilant and reduce risks to ourselves and everyone else by wearing a mask, keeping space and keeping our hands clean at all times.
I hope that work will pick up and we can move forward in this very uncertain circumstances we find ourselves in.

As we all know, these are very difficult times. My heart goes out to anyone who has lost loved ones this year, we have. Thousands of families are grieving. The only thing we can do is reduce the risk to ourselves, our family and anyone around us by wearing a mask , keeping social distancing and washing hands etc. It may seem boring but it truly does save lives. Xmas will be hard not seeing our friends and family, but as Capt. Tom Moore says' things will get better'. he should know, he's 100!
So, be kind, be considerate, keep your distance and as soon as it's safe to do so, we can get together and drink our health and our memories of those we have loved and lost. keep safe.

UPDATE!!
After a quiet period, things have picked up. 3 pending lifts plus another large one in the pipeline.
Also looking at suspending aircraft in a Museum which is interesting.
Still working on a paper for crane stability checks. The LOLER and Ciria C703 do not go far enough regarding the actual ground cranes bear onto.
It's the hirer's responsibility to ensure the ground beneath the crane is adequate so a check needs to be carried out.
If you need one or you think you need one, please let me know.
Also working on interlocking steel mats which may prove useful.

Amsterdam last week.
Lifted this little baby onto a rooftop 30m up at night. It was windy up there so needed 2T of sand bags to hold it stable. Lift went OK by Schot. Had to justify the rooftop and stability of the whole thing. Looks great lit up!

Suddenly got very busy with some very interesting things. A quarter ton satellite to hang from a balcony inside an atrium, crane to site in narrow roads (3 of those this week), a quarter ton sculpture to sit on a balcony in Amsterdam then later hang from a building in Brussels. Seems like it was a good move to go independent from a run of the mill job working for someone else's glory. Instead of being a cog, I am a whole machine, which I think would greatly please my Engineering ancestors. Two Grandfathers, 3 Uncles and an Aunt would you believe. Dad was telegraphist so in essence electrical engineer as he set up Gov wireless stations all over the place. Never knew till after I qualified as an Engineer. I now feel they are all with me on this journey. I love my job!

Last week I was involved in this...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rL_Yoengp8k . I sorted out how to support it without damaging the grade 2 listed structure i.e. no nails!
Also did the ground check for the 2 cranes needed to lift it.
I went up in the mancage to inspect, great view. I will post some photos but seem to have misplaced my camera!
