The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) recorded a significant milestone with the successful inauguration of Engr. Hauwa Ibrahim Khaleel as the 5th Chairman of the Kano Chapter during a well-attended ceremony held on Saturday, 11th April 2026 in Kano.
The event was presided over by the NIEEE President, Engr. (Dr.) Felix A. Adegboye, who administered the oath of office and formally decorated the new Chairman, symbolizing the official transfer of leadership. The occasion attracted prominent dignitaries from across the country, including national officers, government representatives, and key stakeholders within the engineering community.
The inauguration ceremony was marked by impressive attendance, reflecting strong institutional support from both the public and private sectors. Technical sessions were also featured, with presentations on safe solar system practices, engineering standards, and load audit simulation, reinforcing the Instituteβs commitment to knowledge sharing and professional development.
As part of the presidential working visit, several strategic engagements were undertaken. The delegation conducted a technical tour of the Bagaja Solar Plant, where insights were gained into solar infrastructure and power evacuation systems. The team also visited Engausa Global Tech Hub, a fast-growing innovation center that has trained over 9,000 students across Nigeria and neighboring countries.
In further strengthening institutional ties, the President paid a courtesy visit to the family of the late Engr. Ibrahim Khaleel Inuwa, recognizing his legacy and contributions to the engineering profession.
A key highlight of the visit was a strategic meeting with representatives from North West Zone states including Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Katsina. The meeting focused on expanding NIEEEβs presence, with clear directives issued to accelerate the inauguration and reactivation of chapters across the region.
The Kano visit has been widely regarded as a success, not only for the seamless inauguration but also for advancing the Instituteβs vision of growth, collaboration, and professional excellence nationwide. The newly inaugurated executive members have been charged to uphold the ideals of NIEEE and drive impactful engineering initiatives within the region.
