📢 Important Webinar Alert! 📢

New World Screwworm is Here…Now What? Science updates, response strategies, and communication tools to protect livestock and pets

Date & Time: Jun 30, 2026 12:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)

Join us for a timely and informative webinar addressing the emergence of New World screwworm (NWS) and what it means for livestock producers, pet owners, and agricultural professionals seeking to communicate about the risks. This session will provide the latest science-based updates on the spread of NWS, guidance on identifying and reporting cases, communication recommendations, and available resources.

In addition to understanding the biological and veterinary aspects, participants will gain practical strategies for effectively communicating risk and response actions during an emerging agricultural crisis. Experts will also share ready-to-use outreach resources designed to help Extension professionals, veterinarians, and community leaders educate and support their communities.

This webinar is ideal for livestock producers, veterinarians, Extension agents, emergency response professionals, and anyone involved in animal health or agricultural communication.

This webinar was organized in collaboration with the Southeastern Center of Excellence in Vector-borne Disease (SECVBD), the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Center for Public Issues Education in Agriculture and Natural Resources (PIE Center), and Florida Extension Disaster Education Network (FL EDEN).

🌧️ Finally, rain! The Pasco area is receiving much-needed rainfall, and with warmer temperatures now here, it’s important to dump and drain any standing water around your home. 🦟 Help us make life tough on mosquitoes by checking any water holding containers in your yard.💧
