Lumasol is proud to have collaborated with on the successful delivery of SAPY Phase 2 - a large-scale commercial solar installation in KwaZulu-Natal.

The SAPY facility, a textiles manufacturer, required a solution to reduce daytime reliance on Eskom while improving long-term energy efficiency and performance.

System highlights:
• ±800 kW grid-tied solar PV system
• 1,396 × 580 W Canadian Solar panels
• 6 × 125 kW Sungrow grid-tie inverters
• Generator integration for operational flexibility

This installation has already exceeded expectations, currently producing approximately 7% more than projected.

A key component of the project was the custom-engineered mounting structure proudly designed and supplied by Lumasol. Designed to suit the site’s layout while ensuring optimal panel orientation, structural integrity, and long-term durability in local conditions.

Turning a south-facing challenge into a north-facing solution ⚡️

On this IBR roof, optimal solar performance meant rethinking the angle. Using our universal Cardwell brackets, we bridged across the IBR ridges to create a strong, secure mounting point - allowing the system to be inclined at 10° towards the north for maximum yield.
