Most small businesses in South Africa don't lose clients to bigger competitors because of price. They lose them because they look unorganised.
This week I reached out to a handful of estate agencies, property companies, and service businesses across Gauteng. A few things stood out immediately — no website, email addresses that bounced, no way to request a quote or see what services they offer.
These aren't struggling businesses. Most of them are active, have clients, and are genuinely good at what they do. But from the outside? They look like they're not serious.
